One month out of surgery and I'm feeling like this didn't do anything. In the last week I have gained 4 lbs from what? I don't know. I barely eat all day, Protein is my main goal, I drink so much Water and barely snack and when I do it's on pepperoni and cheese.... What am I doing wrong? I've started the gym last week and do an hour of cardio every day.. This is super discouraging and makes you want to give up. Can anyone help?

You aren't necessarily doing anything wrong. But, without knowing what you are doing it is hard to tell.

Are you tracking your food?

What is your Protein target?

Are you reaching your protein target every day?

Are you drinking at least 64 oz of Fluid?

Are you taking your Vitamins and supplements as directed?

Remember, none of us lose at a constant or steady rate. We all experience stalls and slow downs and just about everyone stalls about three weeks after surgery.

Have you talked to your NUT about your concerns? What does he or she say?

Embrace the Stall

You could always add in some high-Protein snacks: Greek yogurt, string cheese, turkey, tuna, Peanut Butter, etc. make good options.

I can't believe you can eat any of that. I am 2 days short of a month and I'm still struggling with broth and Jello :(

That's crazy! I haven't had a problem since starting purées, and my NUT and Doctor told me I have no restrictions

I'd cut out the high fat/high sodium Protein like pepperoni and cheese. I'd stick to low-fat Protein only and increase Water intake.

Hormones, where you are in your cycle, can wreak havoc on weight gain or loss. Also I would take a look at the sodium content of what you are eating. I can tell you right now you mention pepperoni and that's very high in sodium. If you are using a food journal like MyFitnessPal you can look at your daily sodium intake. Just my humble opinion. Keep plugging away.

I stopped using myfitnesspal just because I felt like the calories it said I should be taking in was no where close to what I could meet.. I'm so lost in this journey right now because I don't even know what I can eat anymore!

I am pre op and had the oppisite problem with myfitpal, it was allowing way too many calories...but then I discovered that you can go to:

PROFILE

GOALS

CALORIE AND MACRONUTRIENT GOALS

CALORIES

To change it to what ever your personal goal is. (You can also change the macro settings on Protein, carbs and fat)

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
