Let's Talk Plastic's and Insurance/Medicare!

Recommended Posts

Ok, My Hubby's insurance company didn't cover my WLS because it is excluded from their plan and I am pretty sure plastics is to, but I have Medicare and they paid for my WLS and I have been going to my PCP for months every month to get her to document about my rashes and stuff. Do you think Medicare will pay for my plastics since they paid for my surgery?

My boobs are sagging down to my belly button.... lol and one of my boobs has always been a lot smaller than the other one, if I get a breast lift, will they fix it so they both will be the same size? This is what concerns me about a breast lift. The difference in size is noticable.

At what weight did you get plasctics done? Did you lose all your weight first?

Take all the pictures you can... My guess is if the doctor writes it correctly you will get it... The doctor may have to be willing to fight for you... Start documenting all the ways the extra skin is hindering your activities of daily living, can't tie your shoe etc....

Insurance does not cover anything other than a panniculectomy and in some cases a Tummy Tuck. I too, have Medicare and was lucky enough to get fully covered for a panni/TT.

I helped that the referral came from pain management due to a painful, progressive spine disease. I also included a letter from me stating the weight lost, co-morbidities that were resolved, how I am already limited on exercise options and how the skin was limiting me further, plus how exercise is crucial for maintanence.

Best of luck to you!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
