How many ounces are you ACTUALLY eating?

Recommended Posts

Hey there! Quick question. How many ounces are you eating / how far along are you?

I'm 4 months out and am following my guidelines, but my nutritionist's suggested ounces get weird after 3 months. Wanted to see what people with the surgery are ACTUALLY doing.

10 months 4 ounces of dense foods. 4 weighed ounces, not in a cup. I weigh my food, I don't measuring cups or spoons.

I can eat up to 6 ounces if it is something that high moisture, like baked fish.

I eat about 85-90 grams of green leafy veggies at a time, in a cup that would be about 2 cups, they are sliders, though and don't trigger restriction.

If something is dry, max 3 ounces.

Your nutritionist is kind of right, but I would say at 6 months, not 3 months. Once you are fully healed, what your restriction is, can become different. There are some days you seem like a "bottomless pit" (not really not even close to regular people), and some days you can't eat much. It varies, but you have more room for things, and you will become more aware of the moisture content of food and how it relates to how much you can eat.

I cook most of my food at home so the weights I was talking about for Proteins was raw weight. Cooked weight is lighter, so I am probably eating closer to 3 ounces most of the time. When I have 3 ounces and its dry, that is eating grilled chicken out.

I so needed to see this today! Just finished a 5 oz light Greek yogurt and the thought immediately in my head was - shouldn't that have been more difficult??! I was sleeved two weeks ago (5/10). I'm very focused on getting my Water and Protein in! Tomorrow I move to a phase 3 diet: puréed foods.

I am almost 8 months out. I weigh or measure everything. I eat 3-4 ounces total max per meal between Protein then veggies if there's room. Breakfast is typically less then that. I can eat a 4-5 ounce Greek yogurt most days for an afternoon snack but there are days when I'm done at about half. It seems to be pretty normal for sleeved people to have slight variances from day to day on amounts that can be eaten.

I don't eat yogurt, but wouldn't it just be a slider? Its basically pudding, it is not going to trigger restriction. It seems like you could eat a tub of it if you wanted to.

Regular yogurt yes but Greek yogurt no for me anyway. Its high in Protein and thick. The ones I eat are within the sugar & carb guidelines set out by my NUT.

I juuuust started being able to eat a whole egg. Something about the density just fills me up like crazy.

My bad. I was talking about Greek yogurt. The Dannon Light & Fit version was recommended by my nutritionist. It's like 80 cals with 12g of Protein. It's been super easy for me to get this down than other foods, but it is closer to a liquid than eggs so it makes sense. Lol

15 months out, 4-8 ounces it just depends on what it is.. Closer to the 8 ounces for most things though, i.e. I can usually eat most of a lean cuisine.. Things like salad and watermelon I can eat large amounts of. Also can eat large amounts of things like chips and sweets so I have to keep them VERY limited!! The honeymoon is def over but I am maintaining and very happy with my results!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
