I am not going to listen to others about food again on here. I eat 1 egg mixed with some cottage cheese in the morning. After reading some post I added some graded mozzarella cheese. Just about a teaspoon. And experienced my first kick in the butt! I am 3 weeks pre-op. I will stick with my diet of 1 egg with cottage cheese. Protein Shake that takes 4 days to drink. sugar free pudding and homade Soup or Beans no cheese. That is all I am going to eat. Dumping is horrible!

I am a little confused. You are 3 weeks pre-op and you are experiencing dumping syndrome????

After RNY gastric bypass surgery, the part of you stomach that normally processes fats and sugars is cut away. As a result if you consume fats and sugars, you body dumps them into you intestines and you begin to experience dumping syndrome.

With her angry attitude I would not even bother answering her. No one forced her to eat the cheese, like her accusations sound. Just my opinion.

at three weeks I was still pureeing everything. It may not have been the fact that it was cheese, it may have been that your stomach is still too swollen and traumatized to handle solid foods. Or perhaps you ate a little too much or too fast. Regardless, you can't eat a list of 4 things only forever, so at some point in the future you're going to need to slowly test and add foods back in. This may have just been a little too soon. Try not to get discouraged - it will get easier. Just takes time, patience, and experimentation. :)

I am not angry at all @@sbg224 that is a crazy assumption her the one with the attitude. Don't like a comment just scroll past it no need to be nasty. Thanks. Btw I never said anyone forced me to do anything. I said I listened to someone say it was like string cheese. Just scroll next time instead of giving mean comments.

James Marus

Yeah all I had was egg cottage cheese and very little mozzarella. Maybe my body just don't like cheese anymore? Or perhaps it has more fat in it? I always loved Water before now it taste like perfume to me. All I know is after a few minutes of eating it i was in the bathroom I felt dizzy I sweating I felt like puking but I didn't. I did get bad diarrhea. I thought I was going to faint my stomach hurt and I had to go to bed before I did faint. Maybe that is not dumping I really don't know but when I got up after about an hour I was perfectly fine.

@ cervidae that makes the most sense to me I am pureed everything. And I have completely stuck to the menu I was giving. It is possible I ate to fast we were on our way out. And of course I wrecked that. I usually sit down and eat very slow. I was standing and in a hurry the cheese was shredded but it was shredded in package and was big shreds. So you might be absolutely right.

I still don't understand. Let us assume that you meant 3 weeks post-op instead of 3 weeks pre-op.

After RNY surgery, I immediately became lactose intolerant. If I drank milk or any product that contained lactose, I had stomach pains and then a quick trip to the bathroom with diarrhea. As a result I went off all products that contained lactose including cheese and some Protein drinks that contain lactose. That solved the immediate problem. After about 2 months my body changed and I was able to once again to consume lactose products without problems.

Cottage cheese contains 1-3% lactose
Mozzarella cheese contains 1-3% lactose

There are some things you wont be able to eat this soon after surgery, cheese or as James said, lactose may be one of those things. I have come across MANY things that when I first tried them, they did not agree with my bypass, I'm now almost 7 months post op and I'm starting to find that some of those things that I tired earlier that didn't work, now do. Its a guessing game... almost like Russian roulette, put it in and see what happens, its not fun but its how it goes.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
