Gastric sleeve and caring for a toddler

Recommended Posts

I know there has to be others out there. I am scheduled for my sleeve on Monday. I am worried about how long it will take me to be able to care for my toddler after surgery. This may sound dumb, but will it be hard to get down on the floor for diaper changing and back up? If you had someone to help you care for your toddler/baby, how long did you need them for?

I am 5 days post op. I have minimal pain but no way i could get down on the floor and back up. Three muscles on my right side were cut and stitched. Plus lifting the litgle people would be a no no

That's what I'm worried about. I can get by without lifting her, as she is capable of getting up and down on furniture and such. But the necessities of caring for her, it's something I worry about. My husband will help at first, but he can only take a few days off of work.

My surgery was on Monday came home from Hospital on Wednesday, I run a home daycare and was back on my own on the following Monday. Took awhile to get up and down off the floor, but my one year old grandson also loved to sit on my lap so I just put him on the right side. You should be fine a few days later. My hospital stay was longer because I found out I was allergic to Morphine:(

I am having surgery Monday also and have a 2 year old boy to take care of who well exceeds the weight limit I am allowed lifting. So hopefully things go smoothly after surgery. He has been pretty clingy the past couple of weeks only wanting me so this will be interesting. Good luck!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
