The pre-op diet is to reduce the size of your liver. Citrate magnesium will not help. It's important to stick with the diet moving forward and hope that it's okay.

I had a 10 day liquid pre-op. If you are seriously ready to commit to surgery, start NOW.

Aside from shrinking your liver to get it out of the way, the liquid diet empties your stomach and bowels to reduce the risk of infection in your abdominal cavity.

The liquid diet is not just to test and torment you. Forgive yourself and carry on, soldier.

I'd have this conversation with my surgeon.

It's much better to reschedule for later than to find out the hard way during surgery that your liver isn't prepped.

My surgery date is for the same day. Personally I'm sacred of having a bite of anything thats not on my pre-op list. I have to keep my mental focus right or else I might be going through what your going through now. From everything I'm reading thats what I keep seeing with the folks who are successful long term with this is that you have to get your head right about this or else why even do it. But like Dub said you might want to talk about this with your surgeon because who here is actually qualified to make that call? This is a helluva commitment to be made and you have to be sure that your ready to do whats required to be successful at this. It's not a matter of whether you can do it or not but are you truly willing to do it? These are some of the questions I had to ask myself about this. And yes there are going to be moments of temptation (everyday moments) but the way we think about all of this is going to make all the difference in whether we derail or sabotage ourselves.

What kind of weight loss surgery are you having done? I had the Gastric bypass RNY done 15yrs ago, and I was glad to have it done. It made look at eating more healthier foods that I never ate before I had it done. All of my health problems that I had before my surgery went away after I had it done. So, my advice to you is to go on and have it done, you'll feel better in the long run.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
