Any bandsters in Fort McMurray, Alberta

Recommended Posts

HI Everyone,

Though I have been part of Lapbandtalk for quite awhile, I have never posted. I have recently moved to Fort McMurray, Alberta and have just settled in. I was wondering if there were any bandsters on this forum from there that would like to meet up...

Maral:)

Welcome, infamous Maral! I'm a big fan ;)

Not from Fort McMurray, but there's gotta be SOME lurking around here.

Glad to see you posting... get your self a ticker! *wink wink*

I have not seen any bandsters on here from Ft. Mac., but I am assuming there are some there. I am sure Dr. Coburn mentioned that he was training someone to do fills there.

I know there are some in Edmonton, Grand Prairie and some here in Calgary. A little too far to get together for a quick meet up.

Welcome to Alberta.

Andrew

HI Mandi,

Thanks for the warm welcome )

Your activies are an inspiration to read and often bring a smile or a chuckle....

Actually you were in 'toon vacationing while I was there as well, but it was a pretty hairy time for us as we were in the process of moving and I didnt get the chance to contact you to meet up...perhaps another time, we will both find ouselves there and can meet up...My sweetheart is from Saskatoon, so we will be going back for visits...

As for infamous...I can't recall ever being called that...but I guess there's a first time for everything...lol...My reputation preceedes me and there isnt a whole lot I can do to escape it ;o)

As for who I am now...I'm just Maral, settling with her sweetheart in a new city, an elementary school teacher...looking to make new friends, perhaps banded ones to meet up with for thougtful and meaningful conversation.....banded December 2003 by Dr Yau at The Grace Hospital....

Create a great day,

Maral

Welcome Maral. Although we never met, you were absolutely wonderful to me over the phone. I appreciated your phone calls for the first few days after my surgery and you were always available to me whenever I had any questions.

You're most, welcome, Alex

Day after surgery calls was one of the things I really enjoyed about my job. Many people were really appreciative...

I hope that you are continuing well on your banded journey.

HI Crowntown,

I can understand people not wanting to reach out. Many people do like their privacy when it comes to weight loss with the band.

I'm glad to hear you're looking for someone to chat with...

You can respond here or if you want to email me privately at maralbooster at hotmail dot com. (I wrote it out this way because I don't know if it will appear if I write it as an email address)

I'm happy to go out for coffee if you'd like :))

I'm new in Fort McMurray and just settling in, getting used to being in a new place. It would be nice to connect with a banded person from Fort McMurray.

Maral

HI Donna,

Thanks, Donna :)

I'm gradually getting used to a new environment. So far, it's been very friendly and welcoming...and most importantly, I am with my sweetheart full time...no more long distance for us! And, I'm glad to be getting back into teaching.

This past year, I had a chance to meet some wonderful people...and I miss all of you as well...

Create a great day,

Maral

Hi Maral, I have lived in Fort McMurray for quite awhile, and tonight I am in Toronto nervously waiting my surgery tomorrow morning with Dr. Yau. I would love to have some one to talk to in my area. I look forward to hearing from you :D Jaide

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
