KC, MO; RNY patient, Happy to Mentor!

Recommended Posts

Hello!

My name is Daniel. I'm from the KC, MO area. I had a gastric bypass 8/4/15. My starting weight: 504 lbs. This Wednesday will be my nine month post-op anniversary. I currently weigh 280 lbs. I'm certainly not done but I'm doing great.

I'm happy to offer advice or help to anyone needing support. I know there are ebbs and flows; ups and downs; etc. So, feel free to reach out. No two people experience the same path but inspiration and encouragement are universal!

I'll include a starting and recent pic.

Hi Daniel, you look awesome, I'm Anna from Mexico, I just had my bypass last Friday and it was so painful I already feel regret. I feel depressed, psychologist said it would happen but I never thought it could be so quickly. Any advice?

Hello, Anna. Thank you for the kind words.

Advice....well, I'm happy to offer insight but I need a little information. When you state you have regret and feel depressed-what specifically are you depressed about?

Also, you mentioned pain. Are you still physical pain? Was your procedure 4/22 or 4/29?

4/29, I feel I hurt myself very badly by doing this, physical pain is decreasing day by day but I feel hungry at times is not like everything I had read.

Anna,

I think perception is key. Sometimes taking the right step can feel like the wrong move only because there's some initial discomfort & fear.

You're correct, the physical pain will continue to decrease, but it's important to remember why you took this step to begin with. It wasn't to harm yourself, but to help yourself.

It may be tough to see the positives right now, but you have to trust and have faith in the journey. All the best is yet to come.

As for hunger, focus on getting your fluids and Proteins. Staying on top of both with help with hunger pains.

I'm here for you!

Daniel

I'm 22 and currently going through the pre op process as we speak! I'm actually going with Dr. Hamilton! So happy to actually see others who have gone to where I am going.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
