Able to drink/eat a lot 2 weeks post surgery

Recommended Posts

I think there is something wrong with me. I can drink an entire shake rather quickly in one sitting and not feel sick. I am on puréed food and can eat a lot of puréed Soup without feeling full.

I have an appetite that I thought I wouldn't have.

Anyone else? Help!

It's the densities of the food you're eating. I drink 3oz of a thick Protein shake, but I can't drink more then 2 sips of Water without feeling it. I can eat 4 small chicken nuggets (grilled) until I'm full. I can drink Snapple without feeling as full as I do with Water. It's just what you're eating and how fast it runs through the sleeve

liquids like shakes and Soup pass through your sleeve and into your small intestine quite quickly. You may have less swelling postop in your sleeve than many have (which is great, it means you can get your fluids in).

You also need to remember that your sense of "full" is going to change. The goal now is "just enough". Many of us find that if we eat even one bite too many, we pay a price for it. Early on, because your stomach has been sliced, you may not get the same "full" signals you're used to.

I had my surgery 4/13. I am on day 8. I feel just like you. I am able to drink my premier shake (11 oz) in less than 10 minutes with no discomfort. I don't seem to be hungry as much. I just drink the Water and Protein as recommended.

Not sure what is wrong either...

You said it... One bite too many, if I do that my head starts hurting because I'm too full. It's bad

I just posted the same question in here asking the same. It's nice to know I'm not alone. I'm on day 7 and I can drink all my liquids and fill up a coffee cup full of broth and drink it as my lunch and not hurt me at all. I had expects maybe three r four spoons n I'm full. Then it got me thinking "oh no. Maybe it will not work for me!?!?!?" My luck u know

I haven't weighed myself. I'm waiting for doctor office so I can be shocked. I hope

I was thinking part of me got this to I can control me eating but if I can't hurt the first week and drink all I want will it work later?

I hope so??

Maybe someone can post on here they experienced the same and now the r moving along they have some restriction? I hope so

Trust me, once you start eating solids, you'll feel the restriction.

I had my surgery 4/13 and am already eating a little finely minced tuna, and was able to eat 3 ozs of broiled flounder last night. I was told that I would not feel hungry but I do, I was making my self 2 oz egg white omletts 7 days after surgery with no problem, I have lost 25 lbs in 10 days so I'm not too worried now, but I thought I would feel way more restricted. I still do two Protein Shakes a day and at first I had to drink it over 2 hours. Now I can finish it in less than 1/2 hr. Some people are still on liquids three weeks after surgery, and I'm justd that I'm not going to see the full benefit of this life altering procedure. Comments???

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
