Just came from my first "therapy session" to help with emotional eating! As long as I have to wait 6 months for insurance to approve - I might as well get as many tools and resources I can to be successful! :-)

absolutely! that attitude will take you a long way. I had a *year* long Detour due to a high WBC and resulting tests/problems - but I used that time to watch forums and learn as much as I could to be prepared.

Curbing your emotional eating and finding other ways to cope with emotion will serve you very well post-op. One of the biggest struggles for me in the early months was figuring out how to process emotion without turning to food once it was no longer an option. It was a real challenge and I definitely could have benefited from some counseling I think.

I hope this is helpful for you. I had two straight therapists try to talk me out of my surgery, and you have to make sure this does not occur. You absolutely need to get the emotional eating addressed, but only go with a therapist that will support your underlying decision and work within those confines. If you end up changing your mind in the next six months, it should come from you and only you. Good luck.

Thank you. I'm lucky that the program I go to has Surgeons, Nutritionists, Psychiatrist, Psychologist and Physiologist all part of the Team. I get everything all under the same roof - all with the same goal.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
