Confused and frustrated....

Recommended Posts

So this coming August, my band will be 10years old crazy that it's been that long. I've had great weight loss but still haven't lost as much weight as I would like; that being said my doctor suggested having my band removed and considering another WLS......but idk. I'm kinda on the fence. And I was so nervous when I got the band put but nothing I know how to "deal with it" and unfortunately eating sauce with my Protein has become normal to keep from vomiting. Any advice? Suggestions? If I do get it removed I think I'd go with the sleeve as it has less complications..... I'm just so confused right now and quite disappointed that I haven't met my goal weight and it's been 10 years....

I did not have success with the band and having the revision to sleeve on 6/21/16. I have been doing research and it seems in my opinion and my doctors that is the way to go

Don't be discouraged! Be thankful that you haven't had any complications with the band like most of the rest of us. I was banded in 2014 and my band slipped causing severe pain after I eat anything. The surgeon who put it in is no longer doing the procedure..... When I went to my new doctor he told me that the band is not for everyone. As a matter of fact , it's only for a small group of people. He told me that if you have more than 50-75lbs. to loose the band is not right for you. I am mid way through the process of having the band removed and a sleeve done. I'm nervous and excited at the same time. I go to the gym and eat right with no results, so I'm excited to see the true me hiding uderneath all this weight.

Good luck with your decision!

I'm glad I'm not the only one that hasn't had much success with the band. It makes me feel less of a failure....congrats on your surgery date!! I've been doing research as well and I think I'm going to get the sleeve.

Thank you for reminding me to be thankful. Because I truly haven't many complications at all....and to be honest years ago when I got the band put in my surgeon was completely against it but I was hell set on getting the band. But no regrets its served its purpose but time to move on to less this excess weight. So have you had your band removed already? Did the doctor do it in two separate surgeries?

Livendanow16, no i still have the band. It has been completely emptied. The goal is to remove the band and do the revision all at the same time.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
