So, I was approved for the sleeve but denied for removal of the lapband because it is not medically necessary. I am confused. Has this happened to anyone?

I was approved for the sleeve but denied for my hiatal hernia to be fixed. My doctor said he will be repairing it anyways as it is necessary for my sleeve to be as successful as possible. If the lap band will interfere with your sleeve success, hopefully your doctor has the same mindset as mine. I would definitely ask your surgeon about it.

My experience was similar - I was approved for the bypass, but denied for the band removal. My surgeon's office called the insurance company, submitted the paperwork a second time and I was approved.

Keep at it!

Best of luck to you.

I don't know if my removal would have been denied, but because I had really bad acid reflux I assume that is why it was covered. Do you have any complications with it?

I am actually approved. The notice was indicating that the Surgeon would not be paid for 2 procedures. They just had to change some codes. Officially approved!

The sleeve is the more expensive procedure, so most doctors will go ahead and take out the band if that's what u want, during the time of the sleeve. I work in the OR, the removal of the band doesn't require anything extra that isn't already there for the sleeve.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
