Young and getting the bypass

Recommended Posts

Hi! Today was my consultation with my surgeon and bypass was decided!

I'm 22 years old and wondering if anybody close to my age has had or is having this surgery as well? Thanks!

Yeah me neither. The hard part for me it going to be just figuring out what to tell people. I don't want to tell them I am having surgery, cause is none of their business, but when the ask me how I'm losing weight I need to have an answer ready.

Oh yeah and I am in college.

I was 22 when I started looking into surgery, 23 when I had it, and now I'm almost 8 months out and I'm 24. Feel free to ask any questions or send me a message or whatever you'd like. :)

There are alot more people our age that have the surgery than you know! I was 25 when I had surgery, my date was 10/19/15 and I had gastric bypass... the longer out I've gone from surgery the less I care that people know. I don't know if you have instagram or not but that is where ive found alot of people our age posting about their journeys! If you are interested you can find my weight loss surgery instagram at rny_101915 and feel free to message me here or there.

@@TristanNicole @@Cervidae thank you so much! I had originally planned on getting the sleeve, but after researching me talking to my surgeon the bypass seemed to be a better fit to me. As of right now my surgery will be in November and it is just starting to hit me that this is going to happen and to be honest I'm kind of scared!

@@achappex3 being scared is totally normal, I was actually okay and pretty excited up until the day before/day of when I was completely terrified. Just the thought of surgery and everything is what really got to me, but everything went fine.

@@TristanNicole I actually keep telling myself that I had a csection so I can handle anything. Lol. I'm more excited than nervous actually.

I'm not in my 20's ;). When people ask, I just am planning on saying that I cut out the bad carbs, and am exercising. Which is the truth, just not the whole truth.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
