Nurse Practitioner doing fills?????

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone,

I just started doing research on where to get my fills (mexico lapband) and I was so surprised when I spoke to Georgetown Bariatrics in Lexington KY and they said that the Dr. never does fills always a nurse practitioner.....is that the norm???

My Dr office is the same way, the PA does 100% of the fills unless there is a problem. They know what they are doing and are probably better at it than the Dr's!

My clinic is the same way, and it's been fine. I've had them tell me that the doctors don't do many fills, so they aren't as good at it!

I would choose a Nurse Parctitioner anyday over a doctor. My sister is a Nurse Practitioner and on many occaions her patients have told her she is much better then the doctor. They seem more caring and have more time to spend with you.

The Fill Center in St. Petersburg, FL has a nurse practitioner doing the fills. Great gal, knowledgable and not in a rush. I had no complaints about her. In contrast, Dr. Kirshenbaum, the surgeon I went to in Colorado, had a seamless touch. Hit my port first go, frankly I couldn't see what all the big hullabaloo was about....then I went to the Fill Center.

I think it all depends and wouldn't compare the one doing the fill by degree. My surgeon is skillful and made the fill completely carefree.

My other experiences was more intense so I went from being calm to being in pain.

It depends and experience is the best teacher.

I also would choose a nurse practioner over a doctor. I'm scheduled for my first fill in a couple weeks, and I am so hoping that the NP does it.

Hey Suzie, Is this clinic willing to do your fills? even though you had the surgery in mexico. If so do you know what the charge is? We live in Western Ky and we are looking for someone to do fills. My husband is probably going to Dr K in Colorado just because itis so much cheaper.

My surgeon has started doing his own fills. I had always gotten fills done at the surgery centers by NPs and have never felt tight and have lost no weight in a year. The surgeon however made me nice and tight. I haven't felt like this ever since I got my band. I'm hoping the weight loss will start now. With such a big difference, I will be going to him from now on.

Had my first fill yesterday and it was done by my Doctor using a floroscope. I prefer it that way myself. He does all of his own fills. I also like that the Doc can check the placement of the band (that he installed) to make sure it's all staying put.

At first he gave me 4.5cc (I have the big band) but backed it out to 4.2 as I had that 'backed up' feeling from the slime you have to drink.

There's a Doctor at OCC in Mexico (Dr. Ortiz's office), Dr. Romero who does the fills there. From what I can tell, nurses and PAs do them just about everywhere else. I'm getting ready to schedule my first "non-Dr. Romero fill" so I'm a bit nervous - he's SO good!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
