Revision Surgery- Sleeve to Bypass

Recommended Posts

I was sleeved in 2014 and since then, my progress has not be happening. I work with a lot of people who have seen a bariatric surgeon and their results are awesome!! After reviewing his website more, I saw that he does revision surgery, specifically he does Sleeve to Bypass.

Has anyone read up on this, heard of someone else or others that have?? I'm curious to know about the options.

I have seen several people on this forum who have had this done -- you might want to try also posting in the bypass forum if you haven't btw. The ones I have seen have mostly done it to cure the GERD issues that tend to happen as a result of the sleeve. I have not seen anyone unhappy about it -- most people seem to do great both in terms of general health and weight loss. But as with all weight loss surgeries, you need to be willing to be 100% compliant with a strict eating program -- there is no surgery that will do that for you. Not saying you aren't or haven't been at all! But I have seen other folks here who are looking for a surgery, revision or first go-round, that will force them to lose weight without them having to work hard, and I don't think any surgery can do that.

Good luck!

Hello, I was just revised from the sleeve to the bypass on March 16th what would you like to know

What was your deciding factor to go from Sleeve to bypass? I still have acid reflux, sometimes it seems worse than before. How much different do you feel NOW vs THEN. Also, how long were you sleeved?

Well I was sleeved May 2014, my deciding factor was severe GERDS which actually completely stopped my weight loss from ever taking place... My sleeve was basically none functioning, I vomited in my sleep every night sometimes during the day this went on for nine months before I decided to start the process of having the revision since none of the meds worked. Since having the revision the GERDS is completely gone and that's a great feeling. I can definitely feel that my stomach is very small and I'm progressing nicely and I'm losing about a pound a day since the day of surgery

That is GREAT!! I I had my sleeve 02/24/14 and have since stalled no matter what I do. My acid reflux can stay at bay with Omeprazole but if I miss a day, usually by the second, I'm feeling it. I have an appointment with another surgeon to take a look at my records and see what he can do for me and if i need a revision or if I can be helped in other ways.

My mom was sleeved about two months after me and she has stalled as well. She just diagnosed with GERD, I believe.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
