Easily Nauseated - Worried that sleeve will cause constant nausea

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone!

I am a few weeks PRE-op and I am very worried about nausea. I am easily nauseated and have been most of my life. I get nauseated when I don't eat regularly, and when I take certain medicines and Vitamins. Therefore, I am concerned that I may have trouble with nausea and the sleeve - particularly in the beginning when I am on the liquid diet. Has anyone else out there had a lot of nausea before the sleeve - and if so - how did you do on the liquid diet and then months after the surgery?

Thanks so much in advance! This community is such a wonderful resource!!

they gave me anti nausea meds in the hospital. I haven't needed them, but I am sure they will give you something too.

There may be some slight nausea after the procedure but that generally subsides. You do want to make sure to eat slowly enough and and in small portions. These are the major culprits for nausea and vomiting post procedure. Your doc can probably give you nausea meds if it is a problem for you.

I am 2 weeks out and didn't have any issues from day one. They gave me a nausea patch at surgery since I am sensitive to meds and a pill to take as needed. They also gave an antacid but I haven't really needed it either. Everyone is different but I haven't experienced anything like that. Fluids go down fine. I was actually surprised the day after surgery how much I could drink. I felt like maybe they didn't take enough but....they did. I bought multi Vitamin gummies desolvable Vitamin d3 and a B12 spray. The only pills I take are Calcium citrate and Iron. I'm currently looking for an alternative to the Calcium pills but the Vitamins really don't bother my stomach ..Good luck!

I'm 5 weeks post op and I have this issue. Smells have increased and a lot of thugs bother me. My doctors have been great giving me medicine to assist this. I have this issue with Vitamins pre op and post op. It's been a trial and error process but I wouldn't have it any other way. I can calm my nausea (in moderation) with sugar free mints. I've only vomited twice post op. I wouldn't stress too much about this, you'll figure out what works for you post op!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
