Surgery Roux-en-y Surgery April 4!

I got the call today that my date is set. I'm a ball of emotions fear hope happiness nervous. I dont know what I should expect after surgery besides what my doctors have told me. This is the first time I have found a group of people who are in the same boat as me. I am in Canada though I notice most here are American.

A little nervous, but excited that it's scheduled. I've had a relatively easy time with the diet the last 6 months (seeing the weight loss @ each appt has helped...156 lbs so far). This ia my b-day present to myself as I'll turn 40 five weeks after my surgery

My pre-op diet starts tomorrow Optifast and water only for 3 weeks and I can have 2 cups of lettuce or broccoli if I have to per day...each person is different based on their BMI and weight height ratio

I'm so excited for you guys I was originally going to get an April date for surgery but I'm putting it off for a few months to prepare

Mine isn't optifast, but normal protein shakes and small spinach salads! How are you doing with day 1? I'm chugging water to fend off the physical hunger, but my head is throbbing!

I actually feel great besides a bit sluggish I have head cravings but as far as hunger pains I haven't had any except around the time I'm supposed to have a shake...I have taken to eating ice it really helps thwart the eating that I'm missing because you have to chew it. I didn't drink pop or coffee before this so I'm luckily not dealing with caffein withdrawal. And you can also chew sugar free gum or mints just check and make sure it has no sugar. Also Mio the squeeze things to add to water to make juice are all sugar and calorie free

I add my water then a bunch of ice hit it with some cinnamon and blend it and it is kind of like a chocolate milkshake I do it with the vanilla to which I prefer but they only had 2 boxes of it so I have mostly chocolate...I am on day 3 as well how are you spacing them out? I found I am hungrier at night time so still working out the kinks...where will you be getting surgery and who's your dr?

I'm really nervous too!

I found ice really helps too, I added some instant decaf to a chocolate shake blended it with ice and it was the best one yet. I have been playing around with extracts too. ..so far orange with the vanilla shake is pretty good and banana too. I will be having surgery in Thunder Bay, not sure which doctor there's 2 that switch off...will find out more info next Wednesday
