I am almost two months post - op and ate 3 - 5 Small Fired Shrimp. Thank God I didn't get sick from it. but I feel like a horrible person because I cheated. I try to never finish my 1/4 of a cup for anything I eat.

Fried shrimp is not a sin. I know you are being facetious, but the drama decreases your ability to put things in perspective. Less than perfect choice? yes. Going to cause weight gain and undo your WLS? no.

Put it in perspective, learn from it, and move on. Maybe you are not a horrible person because you ate fried shrimp. Maybe the truth is that you gave in to a craving and you are panicked that this is the beginning of the end for you?

The thing about humans is that we are not perfect. The thing about successful WLS is that it's what we do 95% of the time, and that we do it for the long haul.

One last word of advice - be honest with yourself. Was it 3, 4, or 5 shrimp? As you get closer to goal, it gets harder and harder to lose. If you don't learn in the early days what it takes for your body to lose, you'll find yourself befuddled as to why you are stuck. I do applaud you for taking it seriously. You'll be fine. :)

I eat shrimp all the time. Mostly grilled but might be sauteed or fried. Not the healthiest choice but I no longer view food as good or bad - guilty?. It just doesn't have that kind of power.

I do know you were making a bit of fun, but I am quite serious...I no longer have a virtuous or villain association with foods.

Wether or not it is fried, 3-5 small shrimp are not that dense.

Track it in your tracker and move on.

For me, the thought of fried anything doesn't appeal to me at all, but I love grilled shrimp.

It is helpful to look at your choices in context and not as black or white/good or bad.

That really isn't that bad. Fried food makes me sick, but every once in awhile I'll end up eating some. I log it in MyFitnessPal and move on. Like CowGirlJane said...food doesn't have the same power over me anymore. It's not good, it's not bad, it's just food to be factored into the calories for the day. I don't really eat junk anymore because there is no longer a forbidden appeal to it.

Past that though, shrimp has Protein, so if you're hungry for it again, just have the grilled version and it's basically guilt free.

I had a fried chicken gizzard yesterday. I am still having "eaters remorse".

@@Lisa_85, you say you "try never to finish 1/4 cup". Why?

Thank you for posting this, I really was beating myself up for eating some m &ms last night. It was defiantly a emotional choice for me, but I have been acting like it was the end of the world all day. Moving on!!!

I wish I could eat a 1/4 cup. We should be able to eat 1/4-1/2 cup at this stage. It won't stretch your sleeve. I think people get too afraid of that.

I usually feel full before I finish 1/4 cup.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
