And the wait is on!!!! Paperwork has been submitted to insurance. Anyone have this insurance and know how long it typically takes for approval?

Mine isn't Empire BCBS but another variation of BCBS and yesterday my doctor said it should be less than a week typically. Good luck!

Well I called insurance and they haven't received anything from my Surgeons office. They told me Tuesday I was finished and they were submitting everything.

I'm curios to know how long did it take for the insurance to approve you? I have Empire BCBS also

Sorry can't help you, they are still saying they haven't received anything for me from my surgery coordinator. My surgery coordinator told me today she called them and she is still waiting on a return call, just sounds strange to me!

Im so confused with the insurance nonsense i have empire bluecross NYSHIP and united health care on it too my card has all of these names on it. anyway i can tell you that once they get it they answer in less than a week. but you or coordinator has to call if you wait for it in the mail which you will get anyway it will take about 2 weeks. good luck. i have to resubmit everything because was denied the first time february 3 i believe and some information was missing. so monday i go to my doctor and get my clearance and they should be resending it sometime during the week. (next week) i have a new tentative date April 5 i'm keeping my fingers crossed..

Be very careful of NYSHIP. I too have that insurance. With that insurance let your surgical coordinator know that not only do they have to submit approval with BCBS for the hospital stay but United healthcare for the surgeon. I had a very incompetent coordinator who would not listen to me, kept telling me "relax, everything is fine" but each time I called United healthcare they said they received nothing to cut a very long exhausting story and after showing my teeth I was approved 36 hours before my scheduled surgery! Keep up with the office, you are just another number!!!

I was never denied, after 3 weeks of waiting and calling and then telling me they didn't have my paperwork it had to be resubmitted bc they told my surgery coordinator to do it one way and then after the fact they said that wasn't the right way! So they resubmitted last Thursday, Friday it was already being reviewed, Monday my surgery coordinator had to send clinicals and today I called and it was approved.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
