Aloha no,

Welcome Tashie, glad you found us. I am going to announce our lil group here in our next November meeting so more can join us. Glad you are starting your journey. If we can answer some questions, let us know. We are here to learn and share each others journies...

Tomorrow is the big day. Meeting Jennifer today at 3:00pm. Biggest bummer is that tomorrow, my surgery time got moved from 10AM to 2 PM. That means I will be pacing all morning.

Clear liquids today and dumb me ate heartily last night so I am starving this morning. Let that be a lesson to all you newbies that are coming in. Don't do what I did. Me soooo hungry and tummy rumbling.

I won't be at this month's support meeting on Wednesday but will be at the Christmas party next month. If you don't know already, next months Christmas support meeting is going to be the 2nd Wed, Dec 12th. This is to avoid the Tree lighting that happened last year. It was a mess with parking and all the people for the Christmas tree lighting.

Verify this at this Wednesday's support meeting just to be sure that I didn't get the facts wrong.

See you next month!!! No computer at home so I won't write until end of next week sometime when I get back to work. Leaving the office today at 2pm. Cheers

Support Group meetings are the first Wed of every month at the same place you went to have the first information group meeting with Dr. F. Where Mary's office is.

Except next month. But check to make sure when next months meeting is. It will be the Christmas meeting and they are fun. Games, prizes, gifts, food etc... If it was like last year, you can bring a small gift, kind of like a secret santa thing. Nothing expensive. Just so that everyone can pick a gift. But it is not mandatory at all.

Hi everyone...or should I say, "Aloha!" :(

I have a few questions for you guys if you would be so kind to answer them. I currently live on Long Island in NY and am getting banded at the end of November. My husband and I have left our hearts on Oahu and are looking to move there sometime this summer once we have saved up enough money. #1: Will we as transplanted mainlanders be welcomed into a community? #2: When we do finally move, will you guys be able to recommend a doctor to do fills?

Thank you so much for your honesty. I wish you all success with your new lives!

Tashie,

Check with Mary to make sure it's ok to come because I wasn't allowed to come to the support group until after I met with Mary. I think maybe it's because your first meeting with Mary is when you have to plunk down the $600.00 and included in that fee is access to the support group. I wanted to go to the August meeting and was told I couldn't until I met with her even though I saw Dr. Fowler in June.

If I can not go I will see everyone at the december one.

Aloha to Tishbite 2, I certainly hope so, that you will be welcomed into the community. Thats what the aloha spirit is all about, and if not, move to Kauai, and I will make you feel welcomed. And I am sure that you could see Dr. Steven Fowler, he is the one that has done most of us on this Hawaii thread. He is at Castle Medical Center in Kailua, and I think there is a website for them also. I know he has done fills for others who have done their surgery elsewhere(mexico). If you have any questions you can PM me. OK aloha all, Dave and I are seeing Dr. Fowler again November 29, in the am, anyone else by chance seeing him then??????

Alohaaa Tishbite2,

Yes, this is aloha to welcome all. In fact, I must let you know a lil secret. I am a Native Nyers... and I have been welcome and live Aloha everyday for the rest of my life. You will be welcomed im sure. Dr. Fowler can do fills from other doctors as long as you send your medical records over to him. I talked to him about referrals during our last appt. Does anybody know that he hurt his hand and had it have it surgically repaired with a pin in it. He said he is ready to do surgery again now. He had to hold off for a few weeks. You will love him, he is upfront, and has a warm personality. I welcomed change from a NYer i bet... aloha, miriam

Hi All,

I went into surgery weighing 271 and I'm down to 242. It all depends on which scale you use too. I've found that Mary's scale is 2 lbs. lighter than the one they weigh you on where you go see Dr. Fowler.

I think I'm running on pure will power because I'm sooooo hungry. I feel like I can eat so much more and the little bit I'm eating is definitely not satisfying me. Some days my stomach feels like I haven't eaten for days. I called in today to see if I can get in next week for a fill. Boy I almost did a naughty today--I was standing in the line at Longs and that nasty Butterfinger rack to the right of me kept calling me. I even went as far as to pick up the dang thing and after I saw that it was 270 calories I whipped it back where it belonged........ : )

See you guys tomorrow night.

Carmen

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
