  2. i live in Hawaii and no one will do her band or sleeve until she is 18. she wanted it now not next year and i support that being she has a bmi of over 60
  3. Im hoping we can work together on this ebcause i just read your story and let me tell you a little about my story -- LAP-BAND® 9/2005 02/06 - slip 03/06 - re band throught the past 5 years I have STRUGGLED and the ONLY time i lost weight was when the bad was so tight I barely could drink water. One day I would be able to eat yogurt, the next day it would get stuck -- it was this way constantly and Id never know what i coul or couldnt eat unless i tried - so in teh end I have a band with 1/2 fill so i can eat normally but it defeats the purpose of even having TWO surgeries because here I am weighig in 10lbs les then my 1st surgery and 10 more then my second.... Just went to the Dr. yesterday and he suggested I look into the bypass revision. He made it sound really good but he also didnt leave out the fact that because it is a revision - the risks are automatically higher for compications. I sit here wondering if my body had this many compications with a simple band who will ti react to a bypass? Maybe I will do great with bypass and i will finally see results Ive been striving to see forever what is I am the 15% that thigs go drastically wrong My job now covers this revision - if I waitr health care might change ................................... I too dont know what to do! Complications? What kind of complications? Like is its "dumbing" more often.. k I can handle that.. If its leakge... that can cause death.. IDK I wish I could survey 100 ppl who had this themself! Help for us both What ever we decide , we r not alone!

  5. i absolutley cannot vomit with my band -- food gets stuck and i litterally have to force it out... sometimes to the point where i broke all the blood vessels in my face and it looksliek i just gave birth again.... 10. i followed my dr to teh T -- but after my second fill, I had an unfill -- but I think I waited for the unfill too long. I was banded in sept 07 with first fill 6 wks out and second about 8 wks out. I wasnt able to swallow my own spit (yep, thats how long I waited!!) I went in and had IV to put fluids back in me. I felt really good after my unfill so a month later I had another slight fill. It was back to being TOO tight even with that little amount. Here I am 3 months of living with it being TOO TIGHT and now I have to have a replacemnt next week due to a slipped band. who knwos when or how it happened but it did.
  11. sounds liek what iu had and found out my band slipped -- was this a side effect of that? I have no clue, but I can say I felt that for a couple months and finally got an exray and found out about my slip.
  12. So I just found out that my band slipped. I am 6 months post op --- with only 30 lbs weight loss.... I have had issues from the start! Too tight, too lose, too this too that!! Now I cant keep anything down and the worst part is Im not even losing any weight  So I have a Dr appt this afternoon to get my "options" which I would assume it is to correct it or remove it... but what are the pros and cons about either. If I chose to fix it, will this happen again? I know for a FACT I will not be able to lose weight without it!!! Not right away at least! If I could, I would have before I even got this thing! Anyone who may have opinions, thoughts, suggestion.. simular situations... polease let em know as right now everyone that I know who had this is doing GREAT and I feel very alone!!! Lisa
  13. its me -- happy new year everyone. feel like i been a stranger -- because i have been. Just really frustrated with the lapband all the time!!! Its not working out well for mee. My body is all or nothing i guess.. menaing i have a 3cc band - had 1.5 put in a while ago.. went to the hospitak because i couldnt even swallow my spit, dr took out 1cc. just went in for 2nd fill on friday - now up to 1.2 and guess what --- cant swallow spit again .. going back tomorrow for unfill!!!!! $500 total for unfills!!!
  14. wow you and i got banded the same day -- and are going through the same things somewhat. at first my dr said i wasnt eating enough - i had to up my calorie intake with healthy calories and guess what -- although i was eating a bit more, i lost weight. i started eating too much and foods would get stuck all the time so really be carefull with how much and what you eat. i too got very frustrated with the little amount of weight that i lost .. i just got my 2nd fill (but had an unfill so this is like my frst fill) on dec 28 and its too tight -- i have a 3cc nad with 1.2 cc in it now. weird it would be too tight...
  15. I got banded in sept 2007. Had my first fill in Oct (5 wks post op) I was fine for a few weeks then it hit me, couldnt even swallow my spit. this was during thanksgiving and my dr was gone so i suffered for 5 days ended up in hospital for dehydration -- i guess i didnt really understand what was happening to me -- i knew something was wrong obviously but i didnt think it would get as bad as it did... so needless to say i got an unfill. this was dec 1st. I have been fine but started to eat as if i didnt even have the band. just got my second fill friday -- not even as much as my original -- 3cc band now im at 1.2 fill -- and i cant even swallow Water without discomfort. Protein shake -- no way i will try in the morning -- but evenings i can do it but it takes me 20 - 30 minutes to get one shake down. I have lost a couple pounds of course since friday.. so my question is -- do i stick it out and just stay on liquids for a couple weeks and lose weight or do a get slight unfill? :help:
  16. I am in Honolulu and there is no DR on Maui for fills and unfills only in honolulu. I have friends that fly over to honolulu every other month to see the dr. Its a quick 20 minute flight, but still... Speaking from expirience - after my fill, i was fine for a couple weeks then it hit me -- i couldnt get anything down and i did get dehydrated and was hospitalized for a day to get I.V. fluids in me. It sucks really bad!!! I agree with mbanja says -- some others might say dont worry, it will be enough time to get an unfill before you go if your too tight -- but like i said for me, it want until a couple weeks after my fill that it got TIGHT! everyone is different but you never know how your body will react until after you do it. I say wait until you return -- PLUS MAUI -- Hawaiian food... YUM!! lol
