Maintaining goal weight - acceptable fluctuation?

Recommended Posts

Hi all! I'm very pleased to say that I achieved my goal weight of 145 lbs the day after Christmas! However, as expected, my weight has been fluctuating since then. I've gone as low as 144.5 up to 148.

Right now (post-snowstorm last weekend, ugh), I seem to be bouncing between 146-147. I'd like to get back to hover around 145, but I just wanted to know what is generally considered to be acceptable fluctuation after you hit goal weight?

145 puts me exactly at 24.9 BMI, for what it's worth. Thanks in advance!

You can fluctuate in whatever range you feel comfortable. The numbers are quite arbitrary. I hit a low of 137 (for like one day ;) ) but my body comfortably fluctuates between 138 and 142. Sure, I could go lower, but that would be a pain to maintain. And yes, I pop over the 142 occasionally so that's when I buckle down and get back to basics.

For me, that range has been easy to maintain, and easy is a good thing. Besides the randomness of those numbers, 142 is about where my jeans start feeling snug. If I let myself creep up to 145 or more I would have to buy new pants, so I guess that's kind of the deciding factor.

I agree that it's a combo of ease of maintenance and health and making sure my clothes keep fitting!

135 ish is easy for me to maintain. If I got to 140 I'd sound the alarm. I did have a dream stretch goal of the 120's but it's not worth the struggle to me. My body is super happy at 134-137 and it's really hard to get it to move above or below that so its all good!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
