Six week pre-op diet

Recommended Posts

Hi Marie.

Thanks for your supportive email yesterday - I think I was just feeling a bit overwhelmed by the massive amount I have to lose. Strangely enough the weight I've lost so far has all come from my back, and I want my tummy to go :-). I know it will though. Strangely enough I retried the Optifast shakes yesterday and they tasted fine. So lesson learnt - retry things as tastes change after the op. Tonight's dinner delight was puréed spaghetti bolognese (minus the spaghetti) - and blimey it tasted divine.

Keep up your great work on your pre-op diet --- are you going to tell me how much you've lost? Bet it's impressive.

Just remember it's all worth it.

HI Lizzie, I am glad that you are feeling a little better and good news that you are able to tolerate the Optifast shakes now. I hope everything will go smoothly for you from now on. Spaghetti bolognese without spaghetti sounds devine and is what I have already chosen for my first puree meal.

I deliberately didn't mention my weight because I was trying to focus on you, as you seemed a little upset. I have lost a total of 20.2kg, 9.1 of that I lost prior to starting the pre-op. I have lost most of the weight from my stomach but have also lost some from other places too.

It will be my turn in a week and I am now having doubts and feeling very nervous. Today I paid the surgeon and the excess for the hospital and bought some nice new slippers, I would have been embarrassed if I wore my old ones. I am going to spend the weekend cooking and freezing meals for post-op and then all that is left is waiting and 1 more week of Optifast.< /p>

Take care and keep enjoying those heavenly dinners

Marie

Well done - your weightloss is fantastic. You must feel great.

Nerves are natural but I've found the surgery fantastic. No hunger, and best of all I view food as fuel, not something I eat to bring me pleasure. It's great not to feel tempted by things I shouldn't eat. Tonight my husband had a takeaway pizza for tea - previously I wouldn't have been able to hold myself back --- but he ate it infront of me and I wasn't bothered at all. He did offer to go in another room to eat it; he's not that naughty, but I said it didn't bother me. Weightloss and maintenance has got to be easier when you aren't tempted by all the things you shouldn't eat.

Hope your slippers are comfy; as they will have you walking the corridors as soon as you can stand up. How long are you in hospital for?

Keep up your great pre-op work.

Hi Lizzie Thank you for your support. I got home yesterday (Tues) so in hospital for 5 days total, longer than I first thought. Wasn't up to replying earlier sorry, I am just so tired. Everything went well, weighed myself this morning and have lost 2.9 kgs since Mon 7th.

How are you going Lizzie? Are you starting to move that weight now and how about any NSV's. What exciting puréed meals have you made. When did you have to start counting Protein my doc told me not to worry about that at this time, I do see him again next Tuesday though so maybe he will run through it then along with Vitamins etc.

Anyway that's me all done - exhausted again, will speak again soon. Take care

Marie

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
