Kids after Surgery

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone!

I am having a lapband to sleeve revision this upcoming Monday 1/25.

I have two children ages 2.5 and 1 years old. The one year old does not currently walk.

My mom will have them at her house for a week after the surgery. (7 days)

After that she is unavailable to help.

My question is for people specifically with little kids/babies.

How long after sugery could you start to do things? I am very nervous and anxious as to what will happen. Thanks

I needed help for two weeks, and couldn't lift my 22 pound 1 year old for 3 weeks. I also have a 2 1/2 year old. If your tiny tot weighs more than 20, I'd recommend getting a sitter if you can for the second week. Other ideas....

Converted their beds into toddler beds so they can climb in and out on their own.

Stop carrying them and picking them up beforehand so they get used to it.

Stop letting them climb on you before hand also. Mine ALWAYS did.

Get little solo cups and give them their food that way, instead of lifting them into their high chairs.

Keep the food you give them clean, because it's almost impossible to bend over to clean the floor.

Have supplies for them beforehand (diapers wipes ECT) because you won't want to lift and bend them into car seats.

My mom took my girls for like 10 days, then I was on my own during the day until my hubby came home at night. We couldn't afford a sitter for the remaining days. It hurt like death when I was forced to pick them up (my littlest got stuck in the recliner).

Thank you so much for your reply. I may be able to get some help during the day. I guess my main worry would be a leak if picking up my littlest. I am very nervous about that!!!!

Someone will have them for seven full days, but then after that I will have them during the day time until my husband gets home as well. I may be able to get a relative to come help out during the day...

Yes! If you can get a relative for a week or two you'd be in much better shape. The first week is the hardest, but the pain and healing isn't on a schedule, you'll need more time...

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
