PosT-RNY: when does BP start to come down?

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone, I'm 2 wks post-op (RNY) and was wondering when others started to see a significant drop in their blood pressures? I was under the impression that most people's bp goes to normal levels with 48 hrs of the surgery but mine hasn't budged!

My blood pressure came down pretty much immediately. I was asked to still take my BP medicine after I left the hospital 24 hours after my surgery, and I would call in with my BP numbers daily. However it was pretty obvious rather quickly that I could stop taking my meds and have no issues.

I couldn't come off medication until about 3 months post op. I had to monitor my pressure at home. Right after surgery I imagine pain, stress, etc kept it running high.

My BP was actually normal after surgery. The night I stayed in the hospital the nurses had orders to give my BP meds but had to hold off since my BP remained in the 100-106/68-72 range. After discharge I continued to monitor it but didn't take it and officially advised by my PCP to stop them a week post op.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
