Can you convert to bypass after the sleeve?

Recommended Posts

I had my sleeve done in February of 2014, I got pregnant not many months after my surgery... I had my baby February of 2015. I was at my lowest weight which was 229..I gained some and was stuck at 244 and now I'm at 260. I am stuck. I am doing everything right. I am pretty sure when I was pregnant my stomach must have stretched. Is it possible to go to a gastric bypass after having the sleeve?? I am not at my lowest that I want to be.

Not only is is possible, it's very common. It's one of the main reasons I chose bypass in the first place, honestly. So many people have issues or do not get to their goal with the sleeve. Then again, it works perfectly for some people. If you are not happy with where you are, then a revision may be just right for you. :)

I had my revision surgery done on Dec 1st and I'm doing very well so far. I had the sleeve done 3 yrs ago and despite losing quite a bit initially, I did not have long term success with it at all. I also had issues with acid reflux after the sleeve. In just 4 weeks I have noticed a significant difference with the bypass regarding my acid reflux...it's gone! So I still have ALOT of work to do, but know that the revision surgery is possible and can be done. Good luck to you!

This thread post gives me hope. I had an upper gi done and was told my sleeve is stretched. I have an appointment this week to discuss a revision. My new doctor wants to do bypass and my insurance covers revision. I'm only worried about whether or not they will pay for mine because my bmi is 31. I'm hoping they say it's medically necessary and cover it.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
