Protein Shakes

Recommended Posts

I'm doing all I can to prepare fore surgery in February and I'm a bit anxious for answers regarding nutrition. How many carbs are suggested per day once sleeved? I don't meet with the NUT until late January so I am interested in what others have been advised to consume. I was looking at the Young Living Protein Powder but it has 3x the carbs that Premier Protein has.

You're going to go to a Protein first sort of diet. You won't even be worrying about carbs for a good 9 to 12 months post surgery. I think for women you need to be getting around 70 to 75g of protein in per day after the surgery. Although I am sure someone else a bit more knowledgeable in what women need post surgery will chime in here and give better advice. Either way good luck to you.

I was told to look for Protein with 5-7 carbs or less. My requirement was 70-75g per day. I had a hard time finding stuff I liked, so I recommend that you try some samples & see what you like prior to surgery.

My doctor recommended 65-75 grams of Protein per day. Have you tried GNC lean 25? can be purchased at SAMs club. Bought them in bulk before my surgery nov 24 2015. Also Isopure Protein Drink I try to catch them on sale at Gnc regular price is to expensive for me. Many flavors that I really like 20 oz bottle has 40 grams of protein. I freeze them put in my shaker bottle and sip all day until all finished.

I went to GNC today and picked up several of the shakes(banana, strawberry, chocolate and vanilla) since they were on sale (buy 3 get one free). I wanted to try the berry and orange but they didn't have the individual servings. I am going to hold off buying more until I see the NUT since I have no idea what the restrictions are. Hopefully they will settle in my stomach better.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
