This is a two part question. I was sleeved on 12/12 so 4 days ago. I am doing well just some pain for the incision. I have not had much gas!

I hate taking small sips but I get over it!????

1. What is your favorite kind of Soup. I can have creamed Soups but I just don't know where to start with creamed soups.

2. I woke up this morning and I am very shaky. It has not gone away. I can hold my hand out and I just shake. I have had 40 grams of Protein so far today. What could it be from??

I liked Cambells Bean & Bacon, Cream of chicken, and Cream of Mushroom.

I have no idea on the shaking.... Does your blood sugar ever drop a little low?

How are doing in getting in your fluids? I would suggest you give your surgeon or PCP a call about the shaking.

I know a lot of people ate regular Soups, but I liked the ProtiDiet soups because they have a lot of Protein. I like the cream chicken and Tomato basil.

I have gotten about 25 oz of Water in today. The other the days I haven't gotten much in. I am trying to drink whenever I can. I just constantly take tiny sips.

My first guess is that you are dehydrated. Try crushed ice and sugar free Popsicles. Keep sipping but you got to get more Fluid. Talk to your surgeon, you may need pedialyte.

I will try to drink more Water. And if I feel shaky in the morning I will call the doctor.

I was sleeved on 12/7. I have pureed a bunch of Soups in my mini food processor. So far I have tried homemade butternut squash and split pea soups; canned - bean and bacon, cream of chicken, creamy chicken enchilada (by Progresso). I have cans of chicken pot pie, classic Tomato, and broccoli and cheese Soup still in the pantry. Lobster or seafood bisque would work too. You can really puree just about any soup you like especially if you mix in some unflavored Protein powder (make sure it can be used in hot foods - I like the Muslegen Pro - 30g of Protein in 1 Tbsp). I would just avoid anything with noodles, rice, grains, etc. Or you could pick out the noodles/strain.

Go buy yourself a large YETI cup.

Fill that bad boy about 1/4 full of ice.....top it off with Water.

Take it everywhere with you and sip your back out all day.

It'll hold 30oz of Water and you'll be able to measure your progress very easy. I get 3 of them down every day....minimum.....more if drink coffee.

The shaking you are talking about was something that I did experience after a week or two post-op. I was feeling weak and rundown......no freaking energy.......almost passed out in Best Buy bending over to get something off the lower shelf.....left immediately.......then went back the next day to buy it.......felt puny then, too.

Went and saw my primary doctor to get things figured out.

Had a great laugh with the nurse who took me back from the waiting room......she took down the reading on the scale....wrote it on my chart and then gave me the elevator look.....head to toe....toe to head....."Hmmmmnnnn.....whatcha trying to do up in here ????? You gonna go get all skinny on me ??????". It'd been three months since I'd been in there and my weight was way lower.

She then took my blood pressure and the laughing stopped. It was crazy low....and I always ran high blood pressure. The weight loss and my daily meds had driven it way low.

Doctor corrected the med dosage......essentially cutting it all in half.

The tremors and shaking were also attributed to low blood sugar as I was doing Atkins pre-op until the 2-week Protein shake diet.....surgery......4 weeks of Protein shakes.

All the weakness, shakiness, etc.....all that went away over the next week and I really started feeling great.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!
