January or February 2016 Sleevers?

Recommended Posts

I didn't have to. And I haven't. Maybe a pound or two. I'm finding the nut diet very difficult. I actually do and feel better when I do things like replace a meal with a slim fast shake. It's a huge no no though. So I put what they want and do my own thing. I know that if I went to Mexico I wouldn't have to jump through these hoops so since I eat healthy and balanced I am only concerned that they will keep dragging it out. In a lot of ways I know that it hasn't been an unreasonable amount of time. I see the surgeon next Tuesday and then another psych on Thursday. (Total of 12 hours driving with a 6 yo and a baby) I passed the required psych test and eval so I don't know what this one is about. Ugh

If anyone is cover by ins...what was the turn around time for approval?

It took less than a week for my approval. I think it really varies by insurance company and process. I had them send everything thru the separate bariatric program of my insurance company that I worked with, instead of the regular insurance process. I think that is what sped it up. I have Oxford/United Healthcare

oh golly! I'm so sorry! Thyroid usually takes 2 weeks for you to feel the effects but it takes 3 months to regulate in your blood. (Former LPN, current thyroid patient)

I'm doing the happy dance. My case manager emailed me and told me my insurance gave the green light. Now all I need is the date (still likely in early Feb. because DH will be out of the country). But one step closer! Hooray! :D

I had my thyroid out last year after my PCP and I fought with know-it-all ENT doctors for seven years. My PCP knew something was wrong. I knew something was wrong. The insurance-authorized ENTs only saw a fat woman "looking for an excuse." Argh. I want to say it took two or three weeks for my levels to be acceptable. Well, they're actually high because turned out my little butterfly gland had turned into Mothra and was cancerous. (Thyroid cancer is probably the "best" cancer you can get because it seldom ever spreads.)

I'm sorry about your surgery, but the thyroid governs a ton of different things in your body. Bad levels can cause insomnia, depression, weight gain (or loss)--all kinds of stuff! So do make sure you follow up and find out just why your levels are off. Your surgeon is looking out for you even though I know it must not feel that way.

You will get it under control soon and then on to surgery.

My insurance did not approve the surgery, so I am Tijuana bound on 1/6. My surgery is 1/7, and while was excitedly anxious, I am now a little scared, but blessed to be able to pay for it. My surgeon is Mario Camelo Ramos, and I a having the surgery at the Florence Hospital. I am excited.

I went through Medical Tourism Corporation and they are also scheduling my dental appointment and vascular appointment.

I am so very excited to have this opportunity.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
