When did you guys start drinking regular coffee again?

Hello guys,

I am 9 months post op and I drink decaf coffee everyday now and I am itching to have regular I was thinking I should at least do half cafe first, I was told no caffeine until 12 months but I also know that everyone is different and all the programs are different so I am asking for shared experience with coffee I am also looking forward to making coffee Protein drinks. Please any knowledge and experience helps me to figure out if I should try it or wait and of course listen to my gut which is saying yes its fine you have just a few more months to go!

Thank you team.

There is such a variety of opinions on practically everything, depending on your surgeon. I have a friend that left the hospital on pureed foods, my surgeon "two weeks liquid before pureed". As with anything, I'd say try it and see, everything slowly and in moderation is what I'm trying for.

My doc, who is very conservative, said I could have coffee all along, as long as I'm getting my water intake and no creamer and sugar.

I drink weak skinny lattes made with high Protein milk. Couldn't function without them :)

I was told I could only have decaf..no caffeine ever again

same as me here. I don't drink coffee and my caffeine was from soda I was told no more caffeinated anything I was told herbal tea's for me at best they said.

Oh boy, I was back drinking coffee at 2mths after surgery

I drink regular coffe. A cup a day. I'm 7 months post op. I use fat free creamer and less than half a sweetener.

Same here! With no problems. I started about 2 months post op

I stopped for a long time. coffee drinks were one of the main ways I ate my calories and sugar pre surgery. Huge white chocolate mochas daily. It was great to kick that habit.

I now drink about 1/2 cup of coffee with cream and Splenda in the morning and the occasional iced Americano with Splenda.

I'll never go back to my old ways. I'm over 1 year out.

Looks like I have to stop now if I have gerd. :(

Aa soon as possible - it helps me poo.

Yes, that's what I was told at the very first interview I had with my WLS clinic. They go over the no caffeine/tobacco/no alcohol issue at every appt and each nut-class. I've had several people tell me they drink coffee anyway, some use half caf.

Seriously? Shoot me. I drink what I always have.

LOL ????!! Absolutely!! I second that opinion! I love my coffee ☕️!!

My program didn't restrict coffee but I didn't start drinking until about 6 months post. I did however drink a coffee protein drink made by a company called Chike. It's awesome. 20 gm of protein 2.5 gm of sugar, 130 calls. It has real espresso. I am 2 1/2 yrs post RNY and still have a shake every morning. The company has other flavors as well and you can buy on Amazon.
