I Have Accepted That My Tummy

Recommended Posts

Doesn't like chicken no matter how it's prepared or how tiny my bites are or how many times I chew.

Maybe I will give it a rest for now and try again down the road. If you have had similar experience please tell me how long did it take to overcome this.

I'm not a huge fan of shrimp. I don't care for tuna or any other type of canned fish or meat. I don't like mayo.

I can eat maybe an ounce of grilled fish at one meal. I can tolerate turkey patties in tiny portions.

You can get your Protein in through plant based means so long as you're careful. Try going vegetarian for a while until you're further out and your sleeve is feeling more tolerant.

My new tummy is not a fan of chicken as well... I've tried it twice. Both times I threw up. I'm somewhat upset about it and fish has been my savior... I'm going to try again at a later date .. Give it some time, maybe next time it'll be better. Who knows?! I'm hoping ..

I am finding Beans to be a good source of protien. I have made a few recipes with beans and they are delicious and easy to digest. I will pair the beans with cheese to get more Protein. I am just over 10 weeks and still have Protein Powder for lunch(mix with yogurt and flavorings) to keep my protein intake up.

A friend of mine is 5 years out from a bypass and still can't handle chicken.

It's weird. I have handled chicken right from the beginning but give me an egg and it is all over for me.

Who knows why! I just keep trying though.

I can sometimes tolerate chicken but it seems to depend on how it is prepared and honestly can depend from time to time. I can eat rotisserie chicken warm but cold, I cannot seem to tolerate. Having said that I used it to shred up and put it in chicken salad (which is cold) and that seems to be fine. Mostly it just has to be really moist - so if cold, must be mixed with something. If warm, it seems to be okay. I didn't tolerate it early on though so I agree if you give it a couple of weeks and try again you might be ok. @@dusky goddess - how far out are you?

My stomach could only accept chicken thighs. Not breasts. I don't know why. Perhaps the moistness ?

I just accept it... Chicken salad cut up very finely also works for me.

Shrimp just seemed too fiberous also unless they were the small moist type??

I think we all agree trial and error is what guides us along. I know I have to live by what my body accepts... That can be harder for those of us who are used to being in charge of what our stomach got.... Ha! The head set of accepting a new set of foods is a whole different post ????

I can understand what you mean. Certain stuff is easy.....while other Proteins are not.

No problems here with chicken. I'm fortunate that I enjoy the pouches of tuna and salmon. Broiled fish is great.

My son and I were out all afternoon and he stated that he was starving. I'd only eaten earlier this morning. He wanted a burger. I ordered a small cheeseburger and ate the patty & pickles. Even though I took my time and chewed carefully.....it wasn't very pleasant. Ingestion and burping and an overall bad experience. I set my cellphone alarm for an hour to remind me to drink afterwards. I'll get 60oz more Water down after that meal today.

It's going to be a while before I fool around with a burger. I didn't enjoy that experience at all.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
