Starting new journey

Recommended Posts

Hi. I'm writing about my upcoming surgery and would like to share about it with you all. I'm a 25 year old woman from Rhode Island with a starting weight of 345lbs. I've began this process earlier this year and finally got my surgery date set for December 2nd. I'm currently on day two of my pre op liquid diet and so far so good despite being a little bit tired. Thankfully I have a great support system consists of close friends and family. I can't wait to get this over with and start on a clean slate.

Welcome! I'm starting at 348, dropped to 342 on Day 5 of my pre-op diet, and have RNY on 11/16. Let's keep in touch since we're the same size and starting at the same time! Wishing you all the best, jissellam! :)

I apologize for the long hiatus but happy to say my RNY surgery went well. Not too much pain and was able to walk like I normally did before surgery. Got discharged after two days and so far everything is going smoothly as planned.

Drinking my fluids is a little challenging but not impossible to manage and the shakes filled me up pretty quickly. Luckily I didn't get any nausea from anesthesia the day of my surgery and no gas pain shortly after I went home. I guess it's safe to say I was one of the lucky ones who don't have any side effects so far.

For weight loss, so far I've lost 25lbs from the pre op diet on 11/11 till now. I think it's a good start for me and hopefully it'll be that way for the next few months :)

I am 6 days post op and I had no nausea at all. Stayed one night in hospital then went home. Dr. said I am doing great! Had a gas bubble to get out but other than that I feel great and have been walking since I got out of surgery. This has been a great experience for me so far.

Hi I am Dona,

I had my surgery Nov. 30th. My wounds are healing nicely and the pain is just about all gone.

I talked to my doctor on Dec. 10th and he started me on the stage 3 plan. I have lost 17 lbs.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
