Date night tonight - first restaurant since surgery

Recommended Posts

I'm 7 weeks post op and the hubby is taking me out on a date tonight including dinner. I'm on soft foods phase and haven't been out to eat since surgery. I think we are going to a family style restaurant that serves Breakfast and dinner. What should I look for to order?

Cooked chicken, Fish (not breaded or fried), cooked veggies. worst case, Soup if you cannot find anything else that is approved. A grilled chicken breast and some cooked broccoli would probably be best, and enough for lunch and snack tomorrow too. Congrats, Enjoy!

Try and get something with a high Water count, it will go down easier. Grilled foods are usually dry so I would avoid those, and broccoli is going to make you full really fast. i usually always eat seafood on dates or unbreaded hot wings if available. The sauce makes the chicken easier to eat. If you get hot wings some place make sure to ask about the sugar content and make sure you get a classic sauce that is just butter and hot sauce.

Yeah, I forgot how much I loved scrambled eggs and cheese in the soft food phase. I would like to change my answer from chicken, to eggs.

As others have mentioned above. eggs are always good. You can order scrambled eggs and bacon. Good Protein. Soup is always a good one too. I still do Soups in restaurants and im 6 months out. Don't stress about it too much enjoy the night with your hubby!

Soup, eggs, fish, cottage cheese.

It took a long time before I could eat broccoli and even now it goes down better if it is cooked very tender. I would not attempt it so early on.

Thank you for your replies. We had a good date night without me getting or feeling sick. We did chose a family restaurant that serves breakfast all day so I could order eggs. Then enjoyed going out to a movie where I smiled at the popcorn and proceeded to my seat.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
