Amanda, you have let the sunshine of truth help you move forward. This is not going to be the easiest thing for you, but you know where you are trying to go. Don't let anything stop you! Not anything! You and I have to remember that if it required me to walk across the Death Valley in barefeet I would do it. This is nowhere close to that. So, when you (and I) are tempted to eat something that we know is not on the prescribed diet, go get on the treadmill, take a walk, call a friend, drink some Water, whatever distraction you can find! I know that you can do it! I am going to need you when mine starts on Monday (9th) to tell me everything that I am telling you now and then some.

I have some meditation tapes that I haven't touched in a year. Maybe it is time for me to pull them out and see if getting started (seriously) with meditation will help me to focus on something other than my stomach as I go through this.

I am rooting for you!

Thanks for your ideas. I start my pre-diet next Saturday and I think it will be VERY CHALLENGING. I may be spending hours reading Bariatric Pal for encouragement! ????????????????

Bugsy72, Day 6 for me and it has not been easy but I have not let it get hard. So far, I definitely drink a lot of Water. I have tried different Protein powders for variety, I get on the treadmill (not as often as I should), and I savor the low sodium chicken broth that I can have twice a day. When it gets bad (it does) particularly if I stay up later, I drink more Water and head to bed, put on my cpap gear, and before I know it, another day! It has worked (so far). Lastly, I do a lot of researching WLS, especially about why I've got to do this liver reduction diet. My other motivator is that I want to do my part to make this surgery a success...so my surgeon can do his very best work. This diet is VERY important to achieving that goal. Good luck to you! Nothing is impossible for you!

Buy some unflavoured Protein powder and add to a low fat instant Soup that you like, or a smoothy of your own making. Of course make sure you don't go over calorie allocation - the shakes are usually about 200kcal each with 19g of Protein, 5g fat and 19g of sugars (or less).

I am on day 2 of pre op liquid diet; surgery date Nov 23, (gastric bypass) any suggestions for choices I've got plenty of yogurt and Protein drinks but I'm wanting more variety.

I am finishing day six tonight, Thanksgiving Day. I admit I cheat a tiny bit today. Dr said I could have turkey so that wasn't cheating. There were no clean veggies there nor fruit so i had one bite of dressing, one bite of green bean casserole, and 1/2 of a piece of sweet potatoe, and a roll w/butter. I don't feel too guilty. I was not perfect but I wanted so so much more. i feel like I made the best of a difficult situation. I sat with the family and ate thanksgiving dinner. No one commented on my plate. Did NOT have pumpkin pie. :) I skipped one of the Protein shakes but when i got home tonight, had one. Back to business for the last four days....then surgery is TUESDAY! Lost 9 pounds so far.

I'm on day 6 of my liquid diet. This was the most challenging of this journey thus far. I will have lost 10lbs when it is all said and done. My surgery is on Dec. 7th hoping to have no complications. Thanks for this topic.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
