How much should we be eating?

Recommended Posts

I do not have a Nutrionist. I'm trying to find one local that my insurance covers. In the mean time, I'm 4 weeks post op and wondering how much food I should be eating. For instance, this morning I had 2 medium over easy eggs and a slice of toast. I was satisfied. I didn't have any pain or feel like I ate too much. I have had that pain before so I knew I wasn't in pain this morning. But did I eat too much?

What are your post-op guidelines?

Were you given a schedule?

We're you given a Protein target?

If the foods you are eating are within your surgeon's guidelines then let your stomach be your guide. For me, there is a distinct difference between satisfied and one bite too many,

Honestly? I would have scrapped the toast and just had 1 egg and piece of bacon or 2.

Just because you can, doesn't mean you should.

I would have had just egg or egg and bacon but know some programs allow toast in the early phases.

Adding: I like turkey sausage with egg, too.

Google online for a bariatric handbook. It will give a basic overview of what foods to eat at what stages. Do you have anyone who is providing follow up? You also need to monitor your bloodwork to make sure you are meeting your Vitamin & nutrient levels. As for eating, the basic rule is Protein first, then veg, then anything else if you have room. That means eggs and bacon would have been a better choice than eggs and toast.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
