Insurance and supplements

Recommended Posts

Has anyone tried to get their supplements covered by insurance? What does it usually take? I need to remember to ask tonight at WLS Support Group.

I just tried with Insure Nutrition, which advertises on this site. Had a call from them yesterday but have not heard if my insurance will cover it or not. I think its a long shot but one worth trying. I will let you know if it works.

Thanks retzpa. Somewhere I heard that if they are prescribed then insurance will cover them, but I don't know how to get a prescription for vitamins! :)

I eventually got it so that mine are not covered by insurance, but I can use my Flex $$ to get reimbursed for my supplements. It helps, although I still have to have the $$ up front.

Yes, to have insurance even consider covering it has to be prescribed by a doctor, but even then, most insurance wont pay for it, you can still get it from the pharmacy but you'll have to pay out of pocket, and sometimes its just cheaper to get them OTC.

I was able to get a prescription for Vitamins that are mailed each month and a prescription for the scar cream and Protein Shakes that are mailed each month. My Dr. helped me with the vitamins and I applied online for the scar cream and Protein shakes with Insure Nutrition. After I applied, they called to see what I was interested in, they verified what insurance would cover, and faxed the prescription to my Dr.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
