4 days after surgery and don't have that full feeling

Recommended Posts

Hello, I am 4 days post surgery and in a full liquid diet. I haven't gotten that "I am so full" feeling yet. Some have said that is normal bc my insides are still healing and the nerves aren't really there yet, plus I'm not eating solids which are the foods that make you "full" ... Did any body get the full feeling right away? Or does it take some time to come on?

@tootie09

You just described exactly how I feel, too. I'm on Day 3.

I haven't really had that "full" feeling either. Then again, I just felt hunger for the first time this morning. It had been 12 hrs or so since I'd had any Protein shake.

Oh it'll come. Give it some time. You will be amazed at not only how little you can eat, but by how little you *want* to eat.

I'm 3 1/2 weeks postop. First week felt like I was starving. The last 2 weeks I can't hold down fluids or anything. :(

@tootie09 Were you sleeved or have bypass? I had bypass and I've felt full no matter liquid or solids.

I had RNY bypass on Monday. I have 6 mini meals (1/4 cup to a 1/2 cup) per day but really focus on ensuring they are packed full of Protein. Because of that I haven't felt hungry once. I also drink a bottle of P2O along with Water too. Are you making sure to pack your liquids with protein?

Hope so dub! I'm over here like did they even do surgery?!

I think I made my surgeon feel good when he came to my room for follow-up visits the day off and day after surgery.

I was having such minimal pain from the sleeve that I had to question him on it. He pulled my crazy looking hospital gown up (no dude should have to wear one of these contraptions) and showed me my gut and the 9 fresh holes in it. "Yes.....I did, in fact perform your sleeve surgery", he said with a smile.

I'm on day 5 now and it's easy to get my 3 shakes down along with several 24 oz glasses of ice Water. I've reached the hydration point where my urine is almost clear. I plan on staying this hydrated, too.

I did get a full feeling today. I was having a Protein shake that is thicker than the other brands I use. I must have been too swift on a couple back to back swallows and it was like, "Whoooooaaaahhhhhh boy......slow down." Felt cold in my esophagus.

What are in your min-meals 4 days after surgery ?

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
