So I'm 6 days post-op and I'm alright. But the only thing is I'm not hungry at all but want to eat. I never really knew how serious my relationship to food really was until now I've done so much Soup sugar free Jello and Popsicles and broth and Protein Shakes and tea pre-op and now post-op that I dred taking them especially my Protein shakes I don't get nauseous but I have no desire of drinking it or having soup or sugar free jello or sugar free popsicles. And I'm not going to force myself to have them because I don't want to end up getting nauseous and throwing up. So my question is is there any advice or anything that you've done to get through the liquid phase until you got to your puree. Today I had Sugar Free Chocolate pudding with sugar free whip cream and I felt like I was in heaven it was sad because my mother could actually see in my face how satisfied I was with that. Please if you guys have any advice or anything that you've done personally to get through it I would love to know.

You can make your pudding with Protein powder. That is a great way to get in your Protein.< /p>

I know it sucks, but you just have to keep drinking/sipping like it's your job.

It will get easier.

Thank you I mean I know we all looked online before surgery and thought everything after is smooth sailing or thought it won't be easy but going through it your like oh why am I doing this .

It's fear and anxiety and the unknown. This is new. Keep reading, quit thinking. You are not unique. The things your are experiencing have happened here. Explore and you will see the connections. It really is OK. Congrats on making it this far. Go the next step.

My fav is Dannon lite greek toasted coconut yogurt mixed with unflavored ispoure that I sprinkle cinnamon and some truvia on top of. So good!

I also like a Carnation Instant Breakfast shake made with skim, unflavored ispoure, and PB2 which thickens the shake and tastes more like PB than choc than a runny CIB shake.

I try to mix up sweet with salty and will drink some broth after the wait period after a meal. Helps me feel satisfied.

I'm right along with you - sleeved on 10/6. :-)

Great suggestions from @@jobillandjosh

I have been eating the Dannon, adding PB2 to some things, and adding unflavored Isopure to my liquid phase choices too.

By week 2 I was ready to throw my Protein shakes out the window. I had to get creative. I could have nut butter so I would mix some into my shakes in the nutra bullet then thin it out with a little Water. I also added unflavored Protein to kefir drinks. I also made bean Soup by pureeing and then straining black Beans then thinning it out with veg broth and adding some unflavored Protein Powder. I *had* to have at least one savory item a day. My palette was blown away from all the constant sweet.

i think we had surgery on the same date, surgery buddy! i've been having a lot of trouble as well, even keeping Water down. today, though, i'm able to have cream of Tomato Soup and a small sip or two of milk. ice is great. i haven't been able to stomach Jello, broth, or my shakes and Vitamins much. i don't need to start taking my Vitamins for another week, thankfully. hang in there, let me know if you find any tricks!

I find the Isopure or any of the Protein powders mix better if you dissolve them in a tiny bit of Water before adding them to your food. Especially if you use a fork or small whisk. I add about a tsp per scoop and then slowly add a few drops until it's smooth and creamy.

Hi ya'll I'm with you on everything said sleeved 10/9. I have my doctors appt today and I'm running everything by him. Being foreign I have a total different diet like I can't do canned food. So today I pulled out my vitamix and I'm making real veggies Soups just making sure it's blended to Water consistency. Also I did real broth from meat and I tried Miso Soups. I do kefir instead of yogurts due to sugar. Please continue share your food items to help us through.

I wanted to ask tho anyone else having a feeling in their sleeve after sipping premier shake. Like I have no feeling now but as i take a sip I feel a gas pain coming up littery a pain. I hope it normal since it's so early.

I bought one of those blender in a bottle things on Amazon and I find the Isopure dissolves better in that. When I mix it with yogurt and baby food, I have to put extra elbow grease into it, but it reminds of making pancakes out of the box. KWIM? have to use flat side of the spoon to get larger pieces down and then it's fine. I would never put in Soup. I tried once in Water, and ugh revolting.

The liquid stage absolutely sucked for me. After 3-4 weeks, I was eating a little bit of noodles after drinking the broth from the cup-a-noodles or ramen noodles. I needed something to chew. Once you get to the "mushy" stage, you will feel a little better about having the surgery. Meanwhile, you are gonna have to stick it out like we all did.

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!
