HIP (Healthy Indiana Plan) - Anyone have this insurance?!

Recommended Posts

@@BonnieGail Sorry to hear this. I was told I have to have the entire time of food and exercise logs, so that's December 1 through May 31 for me. They told me to keep doing them because they can ask for them at any time to prove you're still compliant. My final nut. visit is May 31 and we are submitting to insurance on 6/1. All of my other tests were great except I'm on a CPAP now, but I'm compliant with that as well..... it's such a process!

Yes I started last aug, and I've submitted 3 times. It's like pulling teeth with mhs to know exactly what they want. Everytime they've come back with more and more tests. And I submitted the logs 2 months ago, and they're just saying not enough. It's aggravating!!

I also have HIP Plus but it's not MHS. It's Anthem BCBS. I've been trying to find someone who has the same insurance that's already been thru the approval process.

And is keeping my food journal on myfitnesspal ok? Or should I start writing it down?

Yes my fitness pal is what I use and most people I know. The dr can get them all printed out from that app.

I heard anthem is much easier to get approved with

I also am on HIP Plus Anthem first you have to get a referral from you primary doctor. They make the referral and the bariatric center calls to set up an appointment o meet with a nurse to go over the surgeries they provide and what all goes along with each surgery. This appointment is required. I know this because I just had my appointment with the nurse yesterday. If you are than still interested they set up an appointment with the surgeon and the dietitian. HIP requires :

180 days between your consult with the doctor and you pre op appointment

6 consecutive months Supervised weight loss and dietitian appointments

food and exercise journal that you keep on your own

Bariatric Psych Evaluation

Labs : TSH, Nicotine, Urine, Drug Screen, HGB, and AIC

this is all the information I received at my visit yesterday

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
