I hear you! I had so much pain and thought I was going to lose my mind. Come to find out I had an infection deep inside the largest incision.

I kept thinking I was just not able to handle the pain like I had expected. Don't be embarrassed to speak up about being in pain. There's no right or wrong. Everyone is different. I cried for about 5 days straight. Especially when it came to having the open incision packed everyday. I cried my eyes out to my husband and said I can't do this I just can't do it. He reminded me that I really had no choice at this point and it would get better.

I'm now 2 1/2 weeks out and it's finally getting better. I'm still not losing like a lot of people but I think my body is working on healing and the weight loss will have to come at some point.

Good luck and hang in there. It's tough. Much harder then I ever expected it to be for sure but you will wake up one day and feel quite a bit better ????

It does get better. You have just had major surgery and your hormones are in flux. Be gentle with yourself and keep sipping. Focus on getting in all your Protein and fluids. You need both to heal.

It does get better. I didn't think it would and it did!

I am almost a month post-op and I still have some emotional roller coaster rides but all in all it is much better than it was two days ago, a week ago, two weeks ago, three weeks ago and tomorrow it will be better than it was today.

Take deep breaths, stay hydrated and remember this, "this too shall pass and when it does I will be unstoppable!"

I have discovered listening to a few uplifting songs (and humming/singing along) boost my spirits and help me reflect why I had surgery in the first place.

Here are some suggestions (don't laugh just listen):

Oh you poor thing! I promise it does get better!! It's perfectly normal to be emotional about it at this point. I remember end of week 2 crying at EVERYTHING and nothing. Just hang in there. Promise you will look back on this post someday and understand! Get some rest. Take your pain med on schedule for a couple of days. And if it is too bad, don't be afraid to go to the ER (as you have already done). It is major surgery so it could be something more than the "normal" pain. Next week will be better

I'm there with you. I'm almost 2 weeks post op. Although I don't have the pain that you seem to be. The surgery caused my thyroid to go completely out of whack and now it's like I'm going through menopause on top of everything else. I'm 36.

I'm having hot flashes and just have buckets of sweat falling off of me to feeling like I'm freezing to death within minutes of each other. I have 3 emotions, normal, uncontrollable crying/depression and raging bitch.

I hate Protein shakes and feel like I'm drowning myself with all the Water intake. How I'd normally deal with all of these emotions would be to eat and I can't do that.

I have hope that it will get better because I've seen others go through this and make it through. Just know you're not alone. *hugs*

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
