Not Happening After all …

So I was scheduled to have my Lapband Removal/Gastric Sleeve/ Gallbladder removal surgery on Sept 29th, but yesterday during the pre-op visit, it came to light that my surgeon, Dr. Fox, will be leaving for a month long vacation 2 days after my surgery! Given that he’s doing so much, he thought it unfair to leave and not be here should by chance I have any kind of complication. My logical side concurs, but I was so close to getting this done!!! I guess it was not meant to be….just yet.

So now I’ve been pushed back to November 2nd. I guess I was more prepared for this than I gave myself credit for, because I feel disappointed, empty, and a little purposeless…much like a deflated balloon. Another 6 weeks to wait!!! *Sigh*. It was like hurry up and then brick wall. I’d made all these arrangements and had visions of a much smaller me on Thanksgiving… I'm staying on my pre-op diet...don't know what else to do. Perhaps I'll loose a lot more weight before the date and give myself a head-start :)

Brooding but trying to stay positive!

Ellie

I know huh! The Scheduler told me the doc was not thrilled with her for this, as he thought he made it clear he does not want to leave his patients in those first few critical weeks...:/

Is there no other doctor in his practice to cover? Perhaps you can work something out with your primary for follow up care. I agree the scheduler should have had those dates blocked out. So sorry this happened to you.

BlerdGirl, I'm afraid not, he's the only one in the practice :( but thank you so much for the thought!

ELONDE, congratulations on your remarkable weight loss!!!! OMG, amazing! You are a total inspiration. Our height and starting weight is the same, so the fact that you are down to 164 is SOOOOO encouraging to me!!!

So sorry to hear this, but Nov. 2nd isn't too terribly far off. It'll be here before you know it.

Hang in there and try to stay positive.

I am actually jumping through some hoops right now and that is just my best guess. My surgeon said that my surgery will be 2-3 weeks after I complete this task for the Weight Management Center. So, I am guessing mid November. *Fingers crossed!!!

Hmmm, what is with November. Mine will be three years in November. I'm sorry about the wait. You stay positive. All good things come to those that weight.

Finally home. Surgery was this past Thursday. 3 hour surgery, 2 night and 3 day stay in hospital. Band removed, hiatal hernia repair (I did not know I needed it), Gallbladder removal and ofciurse Sleeve. Very rough first day. But I took a Licken and kept on Ticken! Will write more about experience, when better rested. Hard to write on phone. Peace and love

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
