I need support!

Recommended Posts

I've been banded for 2 months now and have lost approx. 30 lbs but I just feel unmotivated and need some extra support. I don't know anyone around my aread that has had this surgery and much less anyone who wants to change their life and become healthy so I'm turning to you guys.

PLEASE HELP ME! lol

Shaydee, you are doing really well. Just try and stay focused on your goal. Set mini goals for yourself. Say 10 lbs at a time or something like that. Stay on these boards as much as possible. You will get support here. Good luck.

Shaydee, a 30 pound loss is fantastic! Keep going and before you know it, it will be a 50 pound loss! Just keep pushing yourself because you're doing great!

What have been doing to achieve the weight loss? Any special tips you'd like to share?

well, i haven't really been doing anything out of the ordinary. I'm finding it really hard to even get my Protein in and I've exercised maybe 4 times since the surgery. I thought the surgery itself would be a great motivater but I just can't seem to push myself into exercising on a daily basis when deep down i really want to.

ShayDee,

You don't have any support network where you live? Family, friends, co-workers who might like to go for walks?

How did you get motivated to get the band done?

Is it that you're happy with the 30 pound loss and think that is "good enough?" I have a sneaking suspicion that I will be battling this before too long. You know, being lighter than I've been for forever..so that is good enough.....

I have to motivate myself. I do have a support system, but it is me that has to get up and get going every day and make the good food choices (which I'm struggling with) and exercising (which I'm pretty good about right now!). I set a goal for myself when I had this done, in January..that I wanted to be able to step up on my horse without using the bumper or a stump! I'm almost there...but I need to strengthen my butt muscles and thighs...so I got myself walking. I've lost 40-44 pounds..depending on the day...

I get frustrated that I've not lost as much as others in the same time frame or that I'm not down a bunch of sizes... But I have lost more in the almost six months than I've EVER lost before..and I know I can keep it off. I am also more consistent with exercise and my mind set is good.

I think committing yourself to someone else..whether it be on here, or a closer friend...and then being accountable. I also think that since I've spent so much of "our" money, I owe it to us to get after it and not give up.

So, 30 pounds is terrific. And there is more losing to come...and you CAN do it.

Sula

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
