Sleeved Aug. 3rd- Did you feel like this?

Recommended Posts

I was sleeved Aug. 3rd and felt great for the first couple weeks. Starting at about week 3 I was feeling nauseous and like I have big lump in my throat. It kind of gives you that choking feeling but not. ( Sorry if thats hard to understand.) I have these feelings before I eat, after I eat, whnen I wake up and when I go to bed. Please tell me this will go away. Anyone else go through this?

Hi, it might sound like acid reflux, your body makes the same amount of stomach acid as it used to, but as your stomach got smaller, it goes up your throat. My doc prescribed Prilosec 40mg to take every day after surgery. Still takes it sometimes (2 1/2yrs post op). You should talk to your doc.

Agreed. It sounds like acid. My doctor prescribed omeprazole which is the generic form of prilosec. 40mgs once a day did it for me as well. After month 6 I no longer needed it at all.

Thank You so much! Is Prilosec ok to take? I already have some of that. I will give it a try for a couple days and see if that helps. It doesn't burn like typical heart burn so I didn't think about that. Thanks again for your quick responses!

Your welcome, hope you feel better soon. And don't forget to let your doc know.

Good luck! ;)

Omeprazole and prilosec are basically the same thing. Be patient, it may take up to a week for the effects to kick in and you need to take it consistently to prevent the return of that uncomfortable feeling.

The sensation is odd, not a burning, almost like something is stuck in your throat or chest.

I have EXACTLY the same thing. My doctor has prescribed omeprazole 20mg twice a day. I took one this morning and did have any episode this afternoon. The first time it happened was after I had my very first Protein shake; did not know what it was.

Hi all. I have the same thing -started around week 3 as well (I'm in week 4 as of tmrw). My doc has had me on omeprazole since the day after surgery. I've never had acid reflux so I wasn't familiar with the feeling. I take it at night because it gives me an upset stomach in the morning.

However - I have NO appetite and I'm so nauseated every couple days. Does anyone take anything for nausea and has anyone had a similar experience?

Jackpot435 - I was given a rx for nausea too, you need to talk to your doctor, your nutritionist, or nurse, I had the three, lol

They know what you are going through.

It is normal not to feel hungry, but you NEED to eat and drink, in order to lose weight, I know it doesn't sound right, but it's how it works.

And again, talk to your doc about the nausea, I can't remember the name of the med they gave me, sorry :/

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
