Recommended Posts

(My screen name says lapband cause that was the original plan. But I was sleeved 7/29/15)

So I'm 3.5 weeks post op like you!!! I was 219 day of surgery. 201.6 today. I also have been fluctuating 1-2lbs this week. Weird. I have cheated on a couple carbs! Oops. Send me a private message. Let's be friends!!!

I was sleeved on 7/31/15 and so far I've lost 20 lbs. Starting to walk longer and adding weight lifting workout this week, so let's see how that affects the whole weight loss process. :P

I was sleeved on 7/13 and also stalled, please know this is quite normal. If you do a search for 3-week stall you should find all kinds of results. My doc explained it this way, the first few weeks you will drop about 10% of your weight and then stall. This is due for two reasons, first your body is burning all simple carbs you have stored up in your body and allows your body to go into ketosis, which is where your body starts burning stored fat instead of calories, because we are hardly eating. Second, your organs need to shrink because they are enlarged. The single reason we are on a pre-op diet is to shrink our enlarged fat covered liver. When we lose weight quickly the organs need time to recover. That's at least what I was told.

Just as a side not, After I broke through my 3-week stall I dropped another 10lbs in 5 days, stick to the plan and stay away from carbs, caffeine, soda etc and it will work. I am 6 weeks 1 day out today and have lost 51lbs since surgery with a stall of 2 weeks.

I was sleeved on the 29th. I'm down 31 pounds, but only 14 of those since the actual surgery date, most was from pre-op. I have been +/- 1lb for the last 2 weeks with 0 movement on the scale. One day I finally dropped 2.5 pounds but then gained it back the next day. I know a stall is normal but I have been getting very depressed about how long mine has been going on and the fact I only lost 14 after surgery when so many people have been losing significantly more. Again, I know everyone is different and stalls are normal, but that doesn't make it any less difficult emotionally & mentally.

This is 100% the situation I'm in right now. The scale moved a little today so that made me feel a little better, but I'm still at less than 16 lbs lost in what will be 4 weeks tomorrow. 16lbs in 4 weeks is great under normal circumstances, but seeing as how 14 of it was in the first 2 weeks.... it doesn't sound so great. This process is such a mind %#$+.

Sleeved 7/29. Sw 245. Day of surgery 237. Today 217. Lost 8.5 lbs week 1. 5.5 week 2, 3.5 week 3, and 2.5 week 4. I went about 10 days losing 1 lbs at the end of week 2 and early week 3. I increased my calories from 600 to 800 to try to get the weight to move. It moved alittle, but i think it is really slow.

I got the sleeve on 7/21. I was 318 before the surgery, 308 at the time of the surgery, and 284 two weeks after surgery. I find that it's best not to weigh your self all the time, so I only weigh myself at my check ups. Plus I'm trying to gain a little muscle so I won't have too much loose skin. The muscle will fill up some of the skin in my arms in return add a little weight on the scale.

HW (2013): 314 (may have been higher because it was after exercise and before eating when I drew that top reading)

SW (7/17): 286 (started pre-op diet the next day)

VSG (8/6): 266 (gained 8 lbs of Fluid in the hospital which went off almost immediately the next day)

Visit (8/19): 248 (two-week post-op visit)

Today: 242 (three weeks out)

I was sleeved on 7/28 and lost 17lbs in the first 2 weeks. I have been stalled out for the last 2 weeks. I'm sure the stall will break soon... hopefully.

I have been pushing myself. I have different friends and relatives who meet with me on different days to do different activities. I push myself even when I am tired and piece I am out and about I feel better.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
