Sajijoma, Congrats on passing despite your psych’s best efforts to confuse everyone! So what are the next steps in your weight loss surgery journey? How exciting!

thanks Alex! I've got 1 NUT visit at the end of Sept and then we are on to insurance submission! I'm almost there!

I can understand your being nervous. I am a shrink and I was nervous! Also know enough about standarized testing to know not to take it all too seriously. I had spent many years privately and publicly underestimating my weight, lying to myself about how I was really secretly not that fat, was sure I would come across as a big fat liar, tight pants on fire, etc. But no, I passed. Now 4 mos past by-pass, no need to exaggerate my losses, this 85#+ is real, check out my before and 14 week past surgery photo...

so proud of you John! That's amazing progress! I hope mine goes off as fast! I've been trying to work my butt off pre surgery so that hopefully I can get to where I want to be a little faster.

that's great.. and I've seen a few people say they didn't pass!

really? I wonder how bad their appts were to not pass based on how bad mine was and did? ????

Probably cause you aren't crazy. LOL. I think you were just super nervous which sometimes puts us way out of our comfort zones. :)

@@Sajijoma way to go! My hats off to you for going through it and coming out the other side! I am not sure how I would have handled that with my anxiety. The last time I had to have an evaluation I cried/hyperventilated so hard I ended up getting sick on the doctor's shoes, which only made things worse.

If all goes right, I should be able to have my surgery come around Christmas. who knows maybe we will be getting skinny together :)

OMG! I'm sorry, but I'm dying laughing at the idea of you barfing on the shrink's shoes.

Sorry.

Really.

But it's funny.

I have been seeing a therapist for my eating and marital issues for the last 2 years, but insurance required I see an actual psychiatrist (therapist is a LSW) and I was referred to one of the doctors in the same practice. I've been there enough to know that people have 50 min appts and are seen on time. Instead, this guy kept me waiting 45 min past my appt time, and even the receptionist told me his previous patient had left on time. I was so mad when I went in, when he asked "how are you" I told him not so good after waiting 45 min. It was a 12 noon appt and I had to be at work at 1:30 pm. He just said things were busy, never apologized or anything.

I had no questionnaire at all. He just asked if I understood the surgery, questions about my expectations, etc. and that was it. Then he said they'd be faxing it over that afternoon. Took them 3 weeks to actually have that done, with repeated calls by me and the surgeon's office. It delayed my surgery approval so that the first available date would have been June 24. I was quitting a job around then and starting a new one the following week, so I put off surgery until Sept. Not a big deal in the long run but I was not happy at the time.

Well, that's just rude and unprofessional. You should let the insurance company know this along with the other doctors in the practice.

Not sure why but the image of the scene from the original "exorcist" with the projectile vomiting came to mind.

The other item that came to my feeble mind is also from a movie "Galaxy Quest" "Never give up never surrender"

My experience was pretty good though I was extremely nervous.

Unless they work for the insurance company directly, they are looking for every reason to approve you, rather than deny you. Whichever case this may be, the psych eval is completely pro forma. They will write anything they need to achieve their goal of getting you in or keeping you out. I said some pretty crazy stuff about my food relationships in mine and he just sat there smiling and approved me.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
