Beaumont, Texas Area Mental Health Dr?

Recommended Posts

I need to get a psychological evaluation and clearance by a licensed mental health professional.

I am in the southeast Texas area (Beaumont). I am using a surgeon, Dr. Nicholson, in the Dallas area so the people they suggest are all 5 hours away.

Any suggestions for one that deals with bariatric clearance?

Check with your doctor to see if he'll accept them but my doctor recommended bariatricevaluations.com - they are really friendly and accept various insurances or self pay if needed.

I used Dr. Kevin Smith. I don't have his number off the top of my head. His main office is in Downtown Houston but he's in Baytown 1 day a week, Thursdays I believe. Try to google him and if you can't find it, I'll did the number up for you.

Thank you I'll try to locate his information! I'm going to Dallas because my parents and sister live a hour away in Greenville. My husband works out of town all week and is only home on weekends. I've got two kiddos, a Great Dane, a cat, and two guinea pigs to care for so I'll need some help! Haha

Ooooohhhhhhh! That makes total sense! Help is definitely needed! LOL! I really would recommend Dr. Smith. I had to fill out an hours worth of questionnaires but after that it was a few basic questions and I was out of his office in no time. He had his report sent to my surgeon that same day. I was super nervous going in and this was the part of the process I was least looking forward to. I have friends who broke down and cried during their psych evaluations and after a pretty tough year, I was just not trying to do all that. Anyway, long story short, if you need actual counseling, he's probably not your guy, but if you need to just check the box off for insurance purposes and move along, he's great! Good luck!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
