Hi @@leroy mann! My surgery isn't until September 2nd, but I've been on a liqiud(ish) diet since 08/05! I go in this week for my Family Visit/check-in to see my progress and my diet will be modified for the last two weeks before surgery.

I have stuck to my diet almost perfectly! The day I started was the exact day I was going to a concert later that night, so while I had a Protein shake for lunch, I ended up going out for pizza before the concert that night and started my diet hardcore the very next day. Since I started the diet unexpectedly and didn't have time for a "food funeral", I didn't feel guilty about my decision at all.

My diet allows for me to have certain vegetables freely throughout the course of the two weeks, so if I'm feeling hungry, I just snack on some cucumber or broccoli or something approved from my list to curb my hunger. It was very hard at first, but it got easier. I'm almost two weeks out and some foods I can't stand the smell of already!!

Hi! I've been on a liquid diet for 2 weeks prior to surgery *Aug 19* and I was allowed to have certain Protein Shakes, broth, sugar free Jello and sugar free Popsicles. It was great! I really didn't have any problem at all. I think I dreaded it more than anything. I feel so lucky to realize I can be starving & a little 11oz shake can satisfy me. I lost a little over 20 pounds but still have a couple days to go before surgery. I stuck to it 100%

I'm on a two week liquid diet. The first 4-5 days sucked but now I'm doing ok. Surgery on Thursday.

I think going through sugar and caffeine withdrawal before surgery can only make recovery easier. If my liver hasn't shrunk down to a raisin I'd be surprised. ;)

On the +++ side you will start losing weight earlier!

Thanks everyone for the replies, it has definitely been tough, but I do believe I'll make it! I'm just so nervous about the hole 10 day liquid diet, I think it was more of a head game then its actually turning out to actually be but one things for sure is it feels almost like Monday 8/24 won't get here fast enough! But thanks for the support and best of luck to all of yall

I was allowed to have raw vegetables and some dairy - cottage cheese, Greek yogurt - until the last 2 days. I lost 17 pounds in those 2 weeks. I really wasn't that hungry after the first couple days... I think even just on liquid it'll get easier after a couple days.

I've started my pre-op diet early to be proactive. I realize that after the surgery, for the rest of my life, my food choices will have to change. I started on 8/9/15, in the afternoon. I knew that 98% of my struggles would be mental, feeling like I needed more food. So I kept telling myself that I'm eating more than enough. After the fourth day, I was fine. Ladies and gentlemen, we can do this. Everyone has their own story. But we also have things in common. We want to work our way back to health. For me, I'm fighting my way to the real me. The active, fun going, tomboyish me. And I'm going to get there. We are all going to get there. Be encouraged.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
