4 days post op... I am hungry?!

Try Zantac. Hunger is sometimes really acid reflux. Zantac has really helped me with that.

Wait why the hostility? If it works for me it works for me if it doesn't work for you that's fine? I don't get why some of you are omg flabbergasted? I'm not dead and I'm doing well. You say you wish me well but you're very condescending. I don't get it?

We are here to help each other not say omg your doctor sucks mine does it better. You get your information from your doctor I get it from mine. Everyone's experience is different. What are you trying to say Sharon? Your experience is better than mine cause of the listed. You are extremely condescending, again I take orders from my doctor you take it from yours. I'm no medical expert so I don't judge but again extremely condescending.

Also I said pureed and mush NOT Solid. Solids only after a month. Geez

Why not name the best doctor and hospital?

bariatric group in New York City I don't name it because no one asked?

Try Zantac. Hunger is sometimes really acid reflux. Zantac has really helped me with that.

I have Pepcid, somehow it's so delicious haha. Yeah the doctor and nut said that. Cause when I would eat something I'd get full already. I'll ask if I can have Zantac should be fine!

There is no hostility here. Astonishment is not hostility. I am shocked at your program. It doesn't mean it's wrong.

You're happy that you have one incision, and you had your leak test while awake. I'm okay with five incisions, and I'm happy that my leak test was while I was asleep. Tradeoff.

You're reading things into it that aren't there. It's just comparisons.

"I wish you well" means truly that. I hope the program works for you. I hope you lose the weight you want to lose. I hope your hunger stops. I hope you have a long and healthy life. I wish you well.

Ahh ok, apologies for the misinterpretation. And i hated my leak test when awake, and I didn't say I liked it, I hated it, I asked if they could do it while I was out.

The drink was the Fluid of hell, I wish I had it while asleep, but they needed to see how I swallowed it and how it travelled down, I get that but I hated it. I am happy with the one incision, but hated my leak test awake. I did a 2. One cat scan and one normal xray just to be careful.

And thank you, if you do mean well, I am greatful! Same to you as well! hope it goes well. So far I lost 21 lbs since pre op diet which was August 1st. Hopefully momentum keeps going. I wish you well!! Same wishes to you.

I liked the live leak test, it helped me understand my sleeve and anatomy better. The drink just tasted like normal medicine.

Thanks for the practice information. http://www.tristatebariatrics.com/

The single incision looks pretty awesome. I imagine the recovery is really fast from that. I would love to see a video on how they do that.

Everything about this surgery varies so much from doctor to doctor. It is kind of troubling there is no established gold standard for surgery or post-op care.

Really??? I couldn't stand the drink- it's the thick liquid right? I nearly heaved it up. But it was kinda cool watching the nectar of hell go down the tummy in real time watching it go down- I have to agree it makes you understand it.

The single incision is great! It's only great because showering is SO difficult with one incision I can't imagine more. I feel nothing after day 3, that feeling like you were working your abs a lot is gone 3-4 days later, although day 1-2 is horrendous, cause they only focus at that one point. I'm waiting to see in a few months if it is virtually scarless.

And I agree everyone is different and there's no bariatric gold standard. Some people did 1 week pre op some 2 some a month!! Some people people post op are on liquids for a week or a month, some pureed right after it varies

wagyu,

Congratulations on your surgery!

I would say hunger is very possible – it can take a while for the sleeve to kick in, and you’re barely eating now. Your body isn’t used to it.

But, like the others, I am also surprised that you are eating tuna on day 4, and I think your body is telling you clearly that it’s not yet time to do so. Many surgeons suggest a few days of a liquid diet with some Protein shakes before moving into pureed foods after 1-2 weeks – but only 1 type of new food at a time!

Your body’s reaction to the tuna could be making you feel hungry – the acid, like the others said, can be giving you that hungry feeling. The important thing to do now is listen to your body. It seems to be complaining about the tuna, so you might want to step back a bit.

Good luck, and keep us posted!

Is this the right one as on their website it states that for two weeks post surgery the patient will be restricted to liquids before then going onto soft foods?

Thanks so much!!

Ahh the tuna isn't the problem I ate the tuna after my hunger, as in I was extremely hungry therefore I ate the tuna , not the other way around. I only ate tuna at the hospital and then during that one hunger pang. I should've been more clear it seems like everyone thinks I'm eating tuna daily. And the tuna is pureed to mush not solid tuna.

In between I'm eating soft scrambled eggs and yogurt, cottage cheese, Protein Shakes, Soups, nothing crazy. I can tolerate these no problem I just have hunger pangs here in there. And I'm still learning what my body is telling me if it likes certain things or not. So it's a learning experience. Thanks!!

Yeah! We have a nutritional guide/ packet. We can eat pureed mush right after. But again it is based on tolerance if I can't tolerate it I don't rush it. I can tolerate it hence I can do it. We had pre op surgery classes at the hospital and stuff and people did ask when we can start all these and the nurses/ doctors said it is based on how well you can tolerate it, everyone is different. Since i can do liquids and Pureed/ mush im good.

My surgery is later this month but at the class this past week, we were told that we'd go home to puréed foods. So fluids for 2 days, purée for 3 weeks, then well chewed solids as we can tolerate them. She did say it would likely be a few months before we could handle beef or chicke.

Yeah! That's my program except I'm on Pureed/ mush for a whole month or so before moving onto solid.

Good luck on your surgery!! It's gonna be great. Be prepared, and it seems like the class will give you everything you need. Keep us posted please!!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
