I had thinner injections when I had my surgery in June. I have Factor V Leiden and, although I've never had a blood clot, my surgeon ordered injections every 12 hours while I was hospitalized. It was no big deal. The shots were given in my belly. Not painful at all. I also had the inflatable leg pressure cuffs on at all times except when I was walking the halls. I didn't need shots after the second day, but they insisted that I be up and walking when I went home.

Wow. 30 days. I'd ask more questions.

@Engteacher I agree 30 days is a very long time ... I did speak with my surgeon and this is the policy. I too have never had a blood clot and would much rather be safe then sorry but I personally think 30 days is extreme.

I went home with a 30 day script, but at 1 week appt, doc took me off of them because I'm not at risk for clotting. It seems to just be a part of the routine.

My doctor also requires the shots for 30 days! It is for all his patients, doesn't matter the risk for blood clots.

I had them in the hospital and the nurse taught me how to do them before I left. My dr requires ten days for everyone regardless of blood clotting history. It wasn't a big deal just a necessary step in the process.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
