struggling with liquid diet (August 5th surgery)

Hi All

I'll be having my surgery on August 5th (the day after my 29th birthday) and I'm on day 1 of my liquid diet.

This. Is. Not. Easy.

These Protein things are not my cup of tea. I've got GNC Lean 25 in chocolate Peanut Butter and Cookies & cream. I'm finding them to be too sweet, too syrupy in texture and just...not what I like. Can anyone suggest a protein that is maybe not a "shake" or a "smoothie"?

THANK YOU!

I get my drinks from Sam each one contains 30grams protein and they are all ready made up premier protein cost is 14.98 for 12

My surgery is Aug 5th as well. Day 1 on the liquid diet for me and it was easy until i got home. Im thinking i will need to keep super busy at night until i get used to this. Good luck friends!

That's my hardest too cause I have to cook for my husband and son. On day 3 I found myself in the kitchen stuffing my face with pieces of bacon I had cooked up for my husband's blt. I felt horribly guilty afterwards and started panicking about my surgeon not performing the surgery. So trust me ladies, it's NOT worth it. Try your best to stick to the program. We are all in this together!

Can you have broth with Genepro (unflavored protein)? My surgeon requires Bariatrics Advantage shakes.

I have a GNC and a Vitamin Shoppe near me. Where's the best place to buy from? I will order online if I have to but I have been so busy at work that my pre-op diet has crept up on me and is now in 5 days.

I am allowed broth on mine.

Thanks, I am going to swing by there and check out what they got.

Try whatever brand vanilla Protein and use that as your "base." Add fruit and almond milk or fruit juice and blend. Here are a few of my faves:

banana walnut- Protein powder, frozen banana, almond milk, walnuts and one stevia packet- optional.

Peanut butter/banana- Protein powder, frozen banana, PB2 powder, almond milk, and one stevia packet-optional.

Tropical fruity: Protein powder, frozen mango, frozen pineapple, frozen Strawberries, orange or pineapple juice. *One stevia packet if the fruit is not sweet.*

We can't have fruits or juices or milk on the clear liquid diet.

Ditto we cannot have fruit ..But good luck to everyone ..WE CAN DO THIS!!!!

I knew I would get sick of Protein shakes. I have bone broth or lamb broth from whole foods with unflavored protein powder once or twice a day. The lamb broth is the most flavorful broth I have ever tasted. The bone broth does not have a lot of flavor but it does have 9 grams of protein, by the time I add my protein power to it, its over 30 grams of protein.

I purchase it at a local place and it is about $10 cheaper than GNC.

I also use gnc total lean. I will mix the vanilla half and half with other flavors. It seems to tone them down a bit. I have also diluted them with water. Just tell yourself that this is a very short phase of a long journey!
